Jasmin theArtist house
House | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 2
Jasmin theArtist House is a truly unique studio for two, tucked away among the historical cave houses along a winding path in the charming medieval village of Finikia. This renovated cave house from the 1800's is surrounded by tranquil gardens and long sea views. A peaceful retreat just minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Oia center, this is the place to kick up your feet and breathe in the relaxing hospitality of Santorini village life.
A small wooden gate transports you into the garden terrace with olive and fruit trees, fragrant lavender and blooming jasmine. You will never tire of the private views of the verdant vineyards of Finikia and the bright blue Aegean sea and sky beyond while you enjoy coffee or meals at the antique marble dining table. While the mad rush of tourists retreat from Oia's “famous sunset”, you will be privileged to linger over every last color of the day from your own private perch.
The airy interiors are simple, elegant and filled with soft white light. A vaulted plaster ceiling floats over the antique double bed in the bedroom. The curving walls and arched openings from the original house captivate with traditional poetic Cycladic charm. Original artwork made by local artists adds charm to the unique rooms.
A fully equipped kitchenette has everything you need to feel right at home. The bathroom is modern and features a built-in shower.
Artist House is perfect for one couple seeking a private summer retreat in touch with the history of one of Santorini's most special authentic traditional villages.
Guests can take advantage of the rare opportunity to tour the owner's adjacent private painting studio. Her gorgeous paintings incorporate folk maritime images with earth pigments used as they were thousands of years ago in Santorini.
The settlement of Finikia is a hidden gem, peacefully sheltered from the jam of tourists just minutes away in nearby Oia. Historical cave houses, wineries and churches dot the network of footpaths tucked below the natural protective cliff wall. Walking these quiet footpaths, one can almost hear whispers of the village's rich history of bustling naval trade, pirate attacks and old-time wine production. The village remains even today a vibrant neighborhood, with tavernas, shops and village residents waiting to show you true Greek hospitality.

"Good place to stay in Santorini"
We decided to stay in Finikia instead Oia because the village was real place where people live and not like in Thira, Oia, Kamari beach where everything is fake and full of very expensive hotels. Mrs Federika owner of jasmine house was very helpful and available to advice what to do and visit in Santorini. She was also very discrete.
She is artist and her house is full of things that she found around. The apartment is very well furnished and Mr. Christof of Kalimera booking supplied free of charge mineral water, coffee, honey, small tomatoes from Federica's garden. There is wi-fi
It is good place to stay for young and middle age couples. Near house there are two "tavern". Supermarket at ten minutes. Center of Oia and is famous sunset at walking distance (15/20 minutes)
To visit Santorini and its beaches it is necessary to rent car or quad. Not to rent scooter or motorbike because of wind and narrow street.
