The Aegean Islands region
A place blessed by God and nature and yet so troubled by fate. Magnificent and wild, Santorini is unique throughout the world for its stunning natural beauty, result of the volcanic eruption of the 16th century BC. A place like a chest of rock on which the whitewashed villages hang like acrobats on the edge of the cliffs and on the other side lay beautiful black volcanic beaches and crystal clear deep waters. Apart from its incomparable beauty, the island offers relaxing moments in authentic Cycladic environment, exceptional gastronomic choices, rich nightlife and a unique study the ancient culture that has a history of over 3,500 years.
During the 18th and 19th century, the village of Oia experienced the prosperity of the naval merchandise. In Finikia lived the farmers who worked in the valley and vineyards, but also the captains of Oia had their summer homes and canavas. In the early 20th century there were over 150 canavas that were left off after the war and the devastating earthquake of 1956 brought the village to abandon. Since the mid 1970's slowly and with patience, new residents began to return and to reconstruct the old houses on permanent or holiday homes. Today, Finikia is a small, well-preserved traditional village now united with Oia with just 10 minutes walking distance. You can stay and experience the feeling of tranquility and authenticity, visiting the beautiful beaches and vineyards in the vicinity of the village.

"Very nice stay in Finikia"
We (a couple with a teenager) spent three nights in Eos suite. We were kindly welcome by Grigoris who is francophone. The suite with a elegant cycladic sobriety has space enough for three and is in a very quite place Finikia which seems to my point of view the very best place to stay in Santorin. The only remark that I can make is about the noise of the fridge that could disturb your nigth if you are a light sleeper . We also appreciated in Finikia the Krinaki tavern and the Potamos cafe.
