About the home

Beautifully restored, this large and very private villa has been renovated to a high standard yet retained its best Greek features.
Situated in the traditional village of Megalachori (pop 350), near the ferry port of Athinios, this property is a few seconds walk from the main cobbled square of this beautiful and charming village. There you can enjoy two excellent restaurants and the local taverna.There is a village store and bakery nearby and the village is surrounded by vineyards, offering wine tasting. The village boasts one of the most up-market hotels on the island-'The Vedema', which has many V.I.P guests such as Danny DeVito and Angelina Jolie
A short walk to the bakery brings you to the main road from the beaches of Perissa and Perivolos to the main town of Fira. 1km towards Fira, past the road to the port of Athinios is Santo Wines, where you can witness a view of the entire island and its incredible sunsets whilst relaxing over a coffee or a glass or two of their famous wine. Alternatively, take advantage of your wonderful terrace by dining al fresco whilst soaking in the views under the rays of the sun, or taking a quiet dip in the spa whilst sipping a cool drink under the stars.

Comprises of two air-conditioned accommodation properties,accessed from the private courtyard.The second sleeps up to 3, with a double bedroom with wardrobes, fully equipped kitchen, modern bathroom and a living room with a double sofa bed and dining table and chairs, 32" flat screen satellite TV, DVDs and books.The first sleeps up to 5, with an entrance lobby with fridge; a double bedroom; a dressing room with wardrobes and a vanity unit; a modern bathroom; double mezzanine bedroom over a living room with wardrobes and a double sofa bed; 32" flat screen satellite TV: DVDs and books. A cot and high chair is also provided.

The courtyard is accessed through a solid external entrance door and is well lit by low lighting and spotlights. The entrance into the first property is on the left. At the far end of the courtyard 3 steps take you to the small terrace outside the second house, with a table and four chairs. The steps leading to the terrace bring you first to another small terrace with a table and chairs. The large 100sq mtr terrace is equipped with a bar with fridge; barbecue and wash-hand basin; sun loungers; dining table and chairs; occasional table with easy chairs and a jacuzzi

There is a welcome pack available upon arrival. Either ourselves or our representative will meet you at the port or airport and take you to the villa, where you will be shown all the facilities and given information about the village and the island in order that you will make the most of your stay. We can arrange car, scooter or quad-bike rental with reputable companies at discounted rates. We can also advise you about the places to visit and the best tours to book(private island tours; diving; volcano and sunset cruises etc). We or our representative will be on hand during your stay to assist if required.

50% of the total rental cost is required to secure the reservation.
The balance will be due 14 days prior to arrival

The Aegean Islands region

The Cyclades is a group of islands north of Crete of which Santorini (Thira), is perhaps the most famous. It lies between Ios and Anafi and is one of the most southerly islands in the Cyclades
Shaped by an incredible volcanic eruption some 3500 years ago, which has been responsible for many myths and legends, the island has now become the cultural capital of Greece, with extremely important archeological finds in the sites of Ancient Thira and Akrotiri. The 3500 year old ancient settlement of Akrotiri has been excavated for many years and has been closed to visitors for 5 years. It has now been re-opened for the 2011 season and is a must to visit. It is conveniently close to Megalochori.
The Santorini climate is very pleasant all year and can become extremely hot during the peak summer months, however the prevailing winds to help to make the temperature enjoyable at these times.

The Santorini / Megalochori area

Megalochori (pop 350), is a delightful traditional village which boasts several vineyards, churches, village stores, bakeries, tavernas and restaurants. The Vedema Hotel is one of the most upmarket hotels on the island boasting such guests as Danny DeVito, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and is sutuated just off the main square.
The village is ideally located on the island, being on the main route to the popular beaches of Perissa and Perivolos with all the tavernas, bars, beach and water activities. The historical site of Akrotiri is nearby, as is the historic town of Pyrgos and the monastry of Profitis Elias. The winding road to the port of Athinios is 1km away just before the Santo winery with its stunning views. The main town of Fira, with its museums, art galleries,bustling shopping area, bars and restaurants is 7 km away and there is a bus service which regularly passes the village.
Kamari is another well known resort on the island and boasts many bars and restaurants. Access is better by own transport as public transport connections are difficult.
We would recommend that in order to reach most places of interest a car or scooter rental is advisable. We have some good contacts on the island that may be of help to you.

“Booked for a special occasion....and it was very special indeed.” Fantastic property in a fantastic setting, owned by the most helpful people you could wish to meet. From the start of my idea to celebrate a special birthday with friends, through the booking process, (not the flight!!!!!!) to our stay at Villa Olivia, the place, the people, the weather, the village, the celebrations, the local taverna and of course to the friends who shared the experience......it was all wonderful...thank you all

“A perfect place to stay in Santorini, it met all of our expectations.” We spent a week in Villa Olivia and found it to be perfect for our family. We enjoyed the rooftop veranda and hot tub and loved the location. We were very happy that we were not in the middle of the busy tourist and cruise ship areas. But it was very conveniently located on the island though a car is highly recommended.
