This beautiful house is available for holiday rental/short lets on a self catering basis.It is located in Santo da Serra,just 800meters from the Santo da Serra Golf Club, and 8kmt from the airport.It´s surrounded by a garden of 2000mts2,with mature trees and old shrubs,where one finds lovely corners of inviting peace and quietness.

The location of the cottage means that it is very close to nature with green all around it and total PRIVACY.The property consists in one floor,renovated with extreme care by it´s owners,where many antiques were tastefully integrated to keep the age of the house.This lovely vacation rental, comprises 3 bedrooms(1double,1twin and 1single),a large living room with open fire place,dining room,a complete bathroom with a bath tube from the beginning of the 20thcentury and a fully equipped kitchen with all modern amenities.

Outside,guests enjoy privately a very large garden that extends to the surrounding woods and sprawl into a forest of age old trees and rustic gardens.Private parking place.

The Madeira region

Santo da Serra area

Santo da Serra is a small village that belongs to Santa Cruz municipe. It´s a place where you can feel that antique families had holidays,and it´s a place of what we call "Quintas".They are a main big and traditional house,usually from noble families,with their second home to spend holidays,most of them English,very well furnished, with a lot of land around them.

Nowadays,some were already sold,as they are very difficult to keep,and transformed in smaller places,but Santo is still a very beautiful and peacefull place to be.It is that kind of place,with one main road and a church on it. Even though you can find in the centre everything you need for your stay,such as 2 super-markets,a chemist,coffees,bakery,shoeshop,hairdresseres,medical centre,very good and typical restaurants with take away services(you have to order before).

In the centre of the village,there is a public park"Quinta da Junta",where the paths are lined with wonderful blooming camelias.It also has a small variety of animals including deer,horses,goats,and once even a canguru.In this Park you can play tennis in one of its courts.If you prefer to ride,just 1km from the centre,in front of the Golf Course,there is a equitation centre"Quinta de S. Jorge" with a very good restaurant.In the Summer,the nearest beach is just 10minutes far from Santo,eigther in Santa Cruz,or in the very nice city of Machico.Caniçal,a bit far,is a fisher village,with very nice restaurants and a beach too.

Santo da Serra,with the airport a mere ten minutes away,loads of walking trails and Levadas to do nearby.On Sunday,in the village centre,there is a traditional farmer´s market where the locals try to sell their own products.

The new roads that go down towards the motorway means that with an easy drive,Funchal is only about 25minutes away by car.

How to get there

If you have decided to come to Casa da Lena, you must fly with one of the airline companies, or nowadays, with any of the low coast coming to Madeira.
We can help you booking a car rental of our trust and trying to get you a better price on the market.
As the house is located only 8kmts from the airport, we will send you all the details needed for you to find the house, which, believe me, is very simple.
But, if your flight happens to arrive during the night, don´t worry, we will meet you at the airport and easily lead you to the house.

As it has been told,this self catering villa, is carefully prepared to receive its guests, by its own owners.All the linen and towells are from a very good high quality,wonderful and very comfortable bed pillows,bed cover 100% cotton with 450gr. In all the materials we can, our option is recicle material to help the ambience, and our machines are all suplied with bio programes.

The central heating is helped with sun system and all our lights are economical ones in order to help the ambience. We are trying to create the concept of eco houses in a trully way of the world, and we accept the help of our guests giving us more ideias of what else can be done.In the kitchen,it is equipped with all the machines you may need during your stay,and meals can happen in one of the tables in the garden.There are 5 main beds and an extra one can be arranged if asked before, and a cot too.

Although it has such a big gardens around the house,they are not shared with anyone else during a stay, the neighbours are more than 50 mts away and won´t disturb,but you are just 800mts from the centre of the village where you can find all kind of amenities.Parking the car is easy ,as you will have all the place in front of the house(inside the garden and just by the door) just for you.Depending on the time of the year of your visit to Casa da Lena,you will be delighted to see the enormous variety of blooming flowers in the gardens,every month a different one.

In order to book this house,we ask you a 30% deposit of the total amount,through a bank transfer.The remaining value is to be paid until 45 days before of your arrival.In case you book 6weeks before,you are asked to pay the total. In case of giving up, we only consider the devolution of the 30% if it happens until 45 days before
,but you will have to pay for the costs.
