About this location
The Galicia region
. - Santiago de Compostela: the city was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO's 1985 World site, which receives more pilgrims after Rome and Jerusalem. In fact because of this pilgrimage to the Cathedral of Santiago, originated in the Middle Ages the Camino de Santiago, also called the Way of St. James (click the link). The city of Santiago is beautiful, made ??its historic narrow streets and beautiful historic buildings, is striking with streets and squares as: Franco, Vilar, Nova, Troy, Jerusalem, San Francisco (medieval) of OTural Pl, Pl Obradoiro Pl.de Immaculate, Quintana Pl, Pl Praterías. The Alameda Park is the most emblematic of the city green area bordering the historic center and allows a view of the same, while you can take advantage of their gardens. Most notable is Obradoiro Square, the nerve center of the city, which form a set of wonderful baroque buildings.
Santiago de Compostela
O Milladoiro is a village in the parish of Biduido, belonging to, in the province of La Coruña town of Ames. It is the most important town core, harboring half of its inhabitants. O Milladoiro is located just three kilometers from the center of Santiago de Compostela.
Several theories exist about the place name. The most common that the name of O Milladoiro remember that was the last town before reaching the Portuguese Camino Santiago. It was the place where pilgrims "humiliated" knelt, seeing the cathedral for the first time, it was a "humilladoiro". And it was also a landmark site. Another theory warns of the possibility that "or milladoiro" is a corruption of "or Miradoiro" which in the local language, Galician, translates as "lookout". For its topography O Milladoiro has a high from which you can see the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela and much of the city. Hence the designation of viewpoint.
