It is in Santa Teresa Gallura which is a small town in the north with a view of Corsica and an array of stunning beaches and inlets on 3 sides. Rena Bianca the local beach is idyllic. The town is small enough to be relaxed and friendly but has all the amenities you need. The Sardinians are intent on maintaining the very traditional Italian way of life with no high rise and strict control of developments near the coast.

The Sardinia region
Sardinia is a large island, 4.5 hrs drive from north to south with many distinct regions. Santa Teresa is at the western extent of the Costa Smeralda which is regarded as one of the most exclusive tourist areas in the Mediterranean. There are stringent controls on the extent and style of building projects with no high rise and only traditional architecture. The weathered granite rock formations, such as Capo D'Orso (Bear's Head) are unique. In spring the climate is perfect and the whole place is a carpet of flowers interspersed with carefully placed 'Henry Moore' boulders. You can have sheltered inlets and beaches to yourself. Unbelievably, it only really gets busy in August and even then there are so many coves and large beaches that you can still find a secluded spot.. Being in the centre of the Mediterranean It stays warm and largely sunny through to November. Sardinia is the home of organic produce supplying much of Italy and you can really taste the difference when buying from the local market.
Santa Teresa di Gallura area
Santa Teresa Gallura is a small town in the north with a view of Corsica and an array of stunning beaches and inlets on 3 sides. The whole of the North coast is just jaw dropping. The island is renowned for scuba (the coral keeps the water surreally clear), trekking (several nature reserves), wind surfing, and serious cycling. All these activities are catered for in the local area, town and marina. Costa Smeralda, Porto Cervo, Maddalena archipeligo (Garibaldi museum) within easy driving distance. Mountainous cork growing region with atmospheric scenic drives nearby. Several important archeological sites in the area.

Guestbook for Stradivari
Hi Gordon I'm so sorry it's taken us so long to email you and let you know how much we enjoyed Sardinia and your lovely apartment. Life has been rather hectic since our return! The apartment was perfect with all the facilities we could possibly require. Your information pack was really useful and we took your advice on supermarkets, beaches and restaurants. Our favourites were definitely Lungoni and Thomas, where the porcetta was superb! Both were very friendly, the food was excellent and they both had a great atmosphere. We found the resort got busier as our 2 weeks progressed, so we booked tables at both the restaurants for our last two nights (Friday & Saturday) had we not, I doubt we'd have got into either. The resort was perfect and we enjoyed taking in the atmosphere in the main square over amaretto and espressos at night after our meal, watching the world go by! A trip La Madallena was enjoyable, although rather windy! Tony from the agents office was extremely helpful taking time to help us with an issue with our hired car and also supplying us with some excellent local info. This was our first time in Sardinia and we will certainly return - the weather was great, beaches fantastic and food delicious. We will and already have recommended your apartment and the island to friends, family and colleagues. Many thanks and I'm sure we'll be in touch in the not too distant future to hopefully stay at the apartment again. Best regards Nicky (from London) June 2007
Gordon, Belatedly, just to let you know that we had a super holiday (14-21 july) at your lovely apartment in Sardinia. We adored Santa Theresa for its old fashioned charm and family friendly atmosphere - it was like stepping back in time and we loved it. Our favourite beach was Conca Verde - strong wind or not! Just a suggestion re the apartment - you may need to replace some of the mugs as they are slightly chipped and we couldn't find any glass tumblers for the six o'clock gin and tonic so had to use the little blue glasses. Apart from that everything was great except I didn't realise Italian lettings don't supply tea towels (I know you have a drying rack but old habits die hard) or an iron but what the heck - it was a holiday! We certainly hope to return many times.
Many thanks, Denise, July '07
