Home description
This home dates back to 1500 and has been lovingly renovated.Down in one of Puglia's most beautiful- if still undiscovered- areas. Deep in the heel of Italy's boot, it boasts an easy drive through olive groves and ancient stone villages to reach wide sandy beaches with turquoise blue water.
The town of Presicce has everything you need, a few family run restaurants, a well stocked market just around the corner, and shops for every need. It is very kid friendly as it is just around the corner from Presicce's main square, a gathering point in the summer months for outdoor music festivals and village celebrations.
The house has a bright open plan, with the typical stone floors of the region, high star shaped ceilings and terraces on two sides. The upper floor has two bedrooms, one with two bunk beds for kids and the other with a double bed, and two baths (one of which is through the terrace), a huge double living room /dining room, and a terrace that overlooks the castle Arditi and it's verdant grounds.
Downstairs at street level is a big room for storing beach supplies. The front terrace has a garden with pepper trees, succulents, and many local species of palms. This area is a perfect spot for exploring local towns, enjoying the beaches, and just relaxing at home.

The Puglia/Molise region
The region is abounding with history and flavour, not to mention some of the best food to be found in Italy. The olive oil, wine, and local produce is helping Puglia become one of the most popular areas in Italy for travellers.
Still widely undiscovered by foreigners, Puglia also has some of the lowest prices for dining, beaches, and shopping in all of the country.
The weather is hot and dry, with 16 hours of sunshine in the summer, and rainfall being seldom and short.
Santa Maria di Leuca / Presicce area
The visitors must see list should include Lecce, which is considered the Florence of the South, Gallipoli with it's winding stone alleyways, terrific restaurants and lively port is also a must. Tricase has lovely pebble beaches,an impressive array of summer festivals, and great ice cream shops, pizzerias, and restaurants. The towns of Patù, Maglie, Salve and Santa Maria di Leuca have daily markets, charming town squares, and many dining options. The local villages have maintained the spirit of Baroque architecture and materials.
Puglia is swiftly becoming the most popular tourist area in southern Italy. The food is excellent, the beaches pristine and the locals pleased to see tourists finally discovering a genuine travellers holiday paradise. Within ten minutes by car, there are unbelievable beaches with easy parking on either coast- on one side dramatic cliffs and pebble beaches with quiet turquoise bays, on the other white sandy beaches set up with umbrellas and sun lounges and clear warm Mediterranean water.

Further details indoors: This house is easy to run and maintain, as a vacation home should be. The light streams in from morning to evening, creating a sense of privacy due to the terraces and gardens, but with a glimpse onto a genuine Southern Italian 'piazza'.
It is a home that is fine for a family, with the two sleeping areas separated by a giant living room. The two bunk beds in one big bedroom, the master suite with bath give privacy to everyone. The kitchen is well equipped, with loads of pots, pans, dishes and small appliances and has direct access to the big terrace overlooking the castle.
The house has made full use of local artisans and their attention to detail, and has been eclectically furnished with a mix of vintage pieces and modern or Asian furniture and textiles.
Further details outdoors: The unique view from the back terrace is breathtaking at sunrise and sunset, with the citrus groves and palm fronds shimmering against the typical Apullian cobalt sky. All of the windows have shudders to keep out the sun in summer months, and both terraces have shady pergolas.
There is a big stone table for eating outdoors under the bamboo, and an outdoor shower on the back terrace for rinsing off after the beach.
