Home description
Set slightly back from the coast in the country this cottage is a true gem with its cosy and welcoming feel and tasteful interior. The sandy beaches can be reached in an approx.6-8 minute walk whilst there are a few supply shops within walking distance. The property has its own enclosed area with small front garden with a lemon grove and vegetable patch and is surrounded by country fields in the area of Santa Maria di Castellabate known as 'Zona Lago`. Once a barn it is now an attractive cottage tastefully decorated in true 'Cilento style' a traditional country simplicity with terracotta tiling and colourful ceramic inlay. Santa Maria di Castellabate is on the cilento coast in the undiscovered Parco Nazionale del Cilento- 50km south of Salerno and the Amalfi coast and was recently awarded the `bandiera blu` for clean seas. It is a combination of sandy bays, rocky coves, hills and inland mountains.

Santa Maria di Castellabate is situated on the coast in the Cilento National Park a vast area that stretches from the coast inward to the mountans and embraces a variety of sceney with natural fauna and flora, preseved stone villages and centuries old olive groves. Off the beaten tourist track Santa Maria offers a wonderful opportunity to savour the Italian life style whilst not feeling like a tourist and yet one can enjoy the tourist attractions in the area. The well known archaelogical sites of Pompei, Pasteum, Velia the wonderful scenery of the Amalfi coast, with the villages of Amalfi, Ravello, Positano, Sorrento and the island of Capri. The charterhouse of Padula and the Reggia of Caserta can be visited as day outings and interesting geological features of stalgamites and stalgatites in the caves of Pertose and Castelcitvita There are local markets in and around Santa Maria and as well as excursion possibilities restaurants and sports facilities. there is also a large roller skating park in the summer

Further details indoors: The cottage consists of 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom with shower and sleeps 4, a living/dining area with sofa and satellite TV, separate kitchen and utilities room with further WC and washer sink, outside front covered terrace and side open terrace, a small garden area with fruit trees in season and parking area to side of cottage As one enters the cottage one is greeted by the welcoming feel in the living/ dining area, with its terracotta tiling with vietri ceramic inlay, the large fireplace runs along one wall and there is solid wooden dining table next to the large terrace windows which open onto the side terrace. The kitchen is in pale white tiling and is complete and well equipped. The double bedroom has an antique carved bed head and commode and the terrace windows open onto the side terrace. Supplied in the cottage kettle, toaster, coffe maker,hairdryer,iron and ironing board, selection of English books, local information leaflets
