Villa Alberto is a privately owned, lovingly kept villa set on two floors just 15 minutes walk, or 2 minutes drive from the historic, enchantingly breathtaking village of Castellabate and only 5 minutes drive to the local beaches at Santa Maria.
Apartments Basilico & Albicocco have private parking and wonderful elevated views overlooking the sea, the bay of Santa Maria, surrounding countryside and the island of Capri. Villa Alberto nestles in it's own grounds and is surrounded by flowers, plants, orange, lemon, almond, cherry, walnut, apricot, plum trees and a small seasonal vegetable garden and orchard.
Apartments Basilico & Albicocco have been thoughtfully & tastefully furnished. Rooms are light and airy, and open out on to their own spacious 180 degree terraces which surround the villa for a complete all round view of the bay and countryside.

Apartment Basilico occupies the downstairs left hand wing of Villa Alberto, is completely self contained, with private parking and wonderful elevated views overlooking the sea, the bay of Santa Maria, surrounding countryside and the island of Capri, has 2 bedrooms, plus a full size single bed in the central hallway. In the combined lounge, kitchen, dining room there is a full size French style day bed settee, which can be made up as a 6th bed, a large dining table and chairs.
The bathroom has a walk in shower and bidet.
Rooms at apartment Basilico are light and airy. Both bedrooms have large double shutter windows that open out on to your own private, spacious 180 degree, 150 square meter patio for a complete all round view of the bay and countryside.
Facilities include a modern newly fitted kitchen, fridge, freezer, oven and hob, iron, ironing board, HD flat screen tv and dvd player. There is the option of renting a USB Internet key for 20 euro per week, giving you the freedom to top up the usage for as many hours as you wish. There are also WI-FI hot spots in the village.
We also offer the option of hiring a state of the art combined portable air-conditioning / air-purifying / dehumidifying unit for 100 euro per week. (we kindly ask you to reserve these items at the time of booking).
At Villa Alberto there is also a quality barbeque available for guests to use.
Apartment Basilico has its own allocated private parking space.
There is ample outside furniture for dining, a restaurant size umbrella and plenty of sun chairs for relaxing.
In Santa Maria, there is a local washing, pressing, dry cleaning service available at exceptionally reasonable prices.
Herbs, fruit and vegetables grown in our private garden are available for you to pick in season.

In 2009 the village of Castellabate was chosen for the re-make of the classic film 'Benvenuti al Sud', which won the hearts of many Italians and cinema fans on its release in late 2010.
The adjoining coastal village of Santa Maria takes only 5 minutes by car (2.5 km) and is accessible by foot in half an hour (for those who prefer walking) or within 10 minutes by local bus - the nearest bus stop is roughly 10 minutes walk from the villa.
At Santa Maria there are fine golden sandy beaches and shallow waters, which have once again been awarded the blue flag for clear sea and clean beaches.
Villa Alberto is only a short distance (15 minutes walk – first part up hill) from the centre of the charming, medieval, historical hill top village of Castellabate, which overlooks the beach resorts of Santa Maria and San Marco.

Conditions for this group of co-located holiday homes
Prices are for both apartments, and are inclusive of: water, gas, electricity and all bedlinen, pillow cases and small bathroom towels (supplied once weekly). There is a £100 final cleaning charge for up to 8 people and a final cleaning charge of £110 for 9 and £120 for 10 or more people.
Deposit and balance (per apartment): the deposit is 30%, payable at the time of booking, and the balance two weeks prior arrival. Damage, breakage, excess cleaning deposit: we kindly ask that all clients pay a cash deposit on arrival of either £150 or 150 euros (refundable on departure or within 14 days of departure) to cover eventualities such as the cost of breakage, damage or excess cleaning. USB internet key deposit is 100 Euro.
Changeover day :
Rental is on a weekly basis from Saturday to Saturday, flexible out of season. Apartments are ready for check in from 4pm and check out is by 10am to allow for time for cleaning.
The Campania region
USING THE VILLA AS A BASE FOR VISITING OTHER AREAS
Villa Alberto can be used as a base for visiting other areas. You could take a boat trip and see the blue grottos or the famous island of Capri (boats leave from San Marco which is only 10 mins drive from Castellabate, and go direct to Capri in season), visit the natural beauty of Punta Licosa and the island, explore the Cilento National Park, see one of the local Buffalo Mozzarella Farms and taste the world famous cheese, see the magnificent lost city of Paestum, the Royal palace at Caserta, the Phoenician ruins at Velia, see Herculaneum and Pompei, go kayaking in Felitto, visit the famous Amalfi coast (by car or boat directly from San Marco), the gulf of Salerno, Naples or Rome or just enjoy the beaches or relax outside and take in the views from the villa.

The Santa Maria di Castellabate area
CASTELLABATE VILLAGE and the surrounding National Park.
Castellabate Village and the surrounding National Park: the charming, living, working village of Castellabate is a traditional Italian medieval hill top village, just over an hour further south from the famous Amalfi coast.
Castellabate is a maze of ancient streets, alleyways, and local restaurants serving traditional food. There are various mini markets, a chemist, doctors, cash point, WI-FI points in the village, butchers, bars, hairdressers, beautician, ice-cream shops, pizza places and a newly opened public swimming just outside the village which has been sponsored by a local Italian Olympic swimmer. Castellabate and has spectacular views over the bay of Santa Maria and San Marco, the surrounding countryside, the Island of Capri and distant views of the Amalfi Coastline. Castellabate and the Cilento National Park have been recognised by UNESCO as world heritage sites since 1998.

Cars can be hired at Naples airport, Rome, Salerno and Lamezia. The drive from Naples to Castellabate is roughly one and a half hours. Cars can also be hired locally here in Santa Maria through Antares 91 (www.antares91.com). Who offer a pick up and drop off service.
Scooters and bikes can also be hired in Santa Maria at a very reasonable rate.
Trains can be taken very cheaply from Naples to Agropoli - which is the nearest station to Castellabate (Agropoli is roughly 15 minutes by car to Castellabate).

Pick up and drop off can be arranged from Naples and from Agropoli with a couple of days advance notice.
As there is so much to see and to get the maximum from your holiday, we do advise a car.

My Father, my Husband and I stayed in the Villa Alberto in September 2010 .... my Dad had been to Castellabate before, but it was the first time for us and although we had seen pics we hadn't realised quite how stunning it was. Everything about our stay at the Villa was first class ... the rooms are wonderful and light, beautiful and a pleasure to be in. The Terrace was HUGE and had the most stunningly wonderful views - our holiday pictures are fantastic. Amanda and Dave were the most helpful, kind and friendly hosts - they did everything possible to make our stay as comfortable and happy as possible. We would highly recommend Villa Alberto and we had such a wonderful time we're coming back next year ... can't wait!! Such a beautiful place to have a Villa - with such lovely views! It's perfect for those who love peace and quiet and a base for days out (driving to Amalfi, Pompeii, Vesuvius, Positano, Ravello no problem - all these places HIGHLY recommended). Also plenty of places to eat out ... Amanda and Dave have a list of places which they recommend and how costly they are, so you have plenty of ideas for your stay there. RECOMMEND Franca's (she runs a local bed & breakfast ... beautiful building, VERY welcoming, AMAZING food, and GREAT value). We had the most wonderful time at Villa Alberto and give it 110% for our stay!! No problem recommending five stars for this holiday. Looking forward to next year!

Many thanks for a truly wonderful and relaxed vacation at Villa Alberto. The apartment was just as described and has all the amenities for a comfortable stay. Sipping wine and watching the sun set over San Marco & Santa Maria di Castellabate, with Capri in the distance is a magnificent experience. Castellabate itself is like a fairytale place and the Cilento area an impeccable setting. It's nice to be able to go to a place and people who do not know you still say buon giorno & buona notte! I'm sure that someday we'll be back.

"We had a delightful relaxing holiday in Castellabate and our apartment at Villa Alberto provided just what we needed. The terraces, with stunning views to the coast, were a wonderful outdoor space to relax and socialise in and were a particular delight. Amanda was very hospitable and extremely helpful when we had problems with our hire car, phoning round taxi firms and doing everything she could to help. The area itself is lovely, golden beaches, warm seas and great food, and from here it is easy to visit the sights, such as Pompeii and Herculaneum. Inland, the scenery of the Cilento National Park is magnificent and it is an area we want to explore more. We certainly intend to return to the area and Villa Alberto in the future."

Since our return home I have been meaning to send you an email to say how much we enjoyed our stay at Villa Alberto. The apartment lived up to our expectations, the position could not have been better, wonderful sunsets over Capri. The food, beaches, our trips to Pompeii, Velia and Paestum were all terrific and our holiday was a great success.
Our journey home went smoothly no delays on the trains, even the overnight train arrived in Paris exactly to time.
Thanks for all your help during our stay, we hope we will meet you again sometime. We will have no hesitation in recommending your apartments to our friends.

Well I'm sure that you have heard how lucky you are to be there rather than in London right now. In fact, I think that Castellabate gave us the only summer we are destined to see!
I just wanted to drop you a quick line to say what a truly amazing holiday Angela, Zoe and myself had there. On arrival into Agropoli, David made our welcome so much easier and it was great having a chat to him in the car about the area, the village and the apartment.
Arriving to the villa and seeing such a gorgeous apartment set the tone for the hospitality we were to receive from you. We appreciated the gestures so much - you looking after us, inviting us for dinner cooked by Franca, and the lifts down to San Marco and Santa Maria. You and David really did help our stay to be so memorable and enjoyable!
The apartment was wonderful too - the views, being able to use the kitchen, the plums and tomatoes outside. I have recommended it to other people thinking of a holiday in Italy, pointing out that not only is it an amazing bit of coastline and village, but also just a nice relaxed and helpful atmosphere.
So thank you again for everything. It really made our holiday so special and we appreciated all the things you did for us.
