The quaint local small town of Santa Maria with its own bars, numerous restaurants and shops is only a 10 minute walk away.

The Barlavento Islands / Sal Island region
Cape Verde enjoys sunshine all year round with temperatures ranging from 24 to 30 degrees with almost no rainfall at all. Although the island enjoys the same climate as the Caribbean, there is no risk of hurricanes and is virtually free of mosquitoes. It is less than 51/2 hours from the UK with no time difference, therefore no jet lag.
Sal is most famous for beautiful beaches and its water sports which include surfing, wind surfing and kite surfing. The world championships for wind surfing are held on this island.
Santa Maria, Sal Island area
Santa Maria is just a 10 minute walk away. It has a charming local croele feel and has numerous local shops, bars and restaurants. You can watch the fishermen bring in their daily catch on the beach or simply stroll around the many craft shops where you can buy anything from african handmade jewellery to beautiful hand paintings.
You can also visit the salt lakes at Pedra De Lume or pay a visit to the main capitol of Espargos. However the island of Sal is renowned for its beautiful beaches which you will find all around the island but none better than Ponta Preta which are 2 minutes walk from the Villa.
