The Palazzo Giulli Roselmini is a beautiful restored, 16th Century Palazzo on the edge of the tranquil and beautiful village of Pieve di Santa Luce, a small traditional village immersed in the peaceful oasis of the lowlands of Maremma. Pisa airport is only 35 minutes drive to the apartment, the beach only 30mins drive and many hill top villages, making our apartment an ideal starting point for discovering Tuscany.

It has a private entrance around the back of the building via the small garden. The morning sun hits the garden early up until 2pm where you can then sit out and enjoy a little shade after the heat of the day. The Living area with corner kitchen over looks the private garden so is ideal for nipping in and out with your dinner or drinks. with the advantage of a sofa bed in the living area it can accommodate a small family or two couples. A few games, books and radio for your enjoyment. The kitchen is basic but well equipped with a table ideal for 4 people but can also extend. Large modern bathroom (shower) with feather wall. The bedroom is also large and light and airy over looking the village and small kiddies park.

There is a shared south facing outdoor communal swimming pool and also private parking.

Local facilities consist of a shop that sells most amenities, a café bar with ice cream (locals and holiday makers gather there in the evenings) and one of the oldest churches in Tuscany, now restored. On various week days a local market van visits selling farm produce. There is a great restaurant/pizza bar 2 minutes walk from the apartment, called La Gozzetta, with many more close by.

The Tuscany region

If you want lively bars and an English breakfast on your holiday, this is definitely not the place for you! If you're looking for culture, art, crafts, tradition, local cuisine, fine wines all in an area of stunning natural beauty, where the pace of life slows right down under the Tuscan sun… then you'll definitely enjoy a holiday in this part of paradise!

Tuscany boasts a lovely climate. The best way to describe it is that it seems to have 'proper' seasons.

Warm sunny Spring days make a regular appearance from as early as March sending the area into full bloom with blossom on the trees and poppies by the roadside.

The summers are hot and relaxing with inviting beaches and shaded pine forests. Autumn's sunny days are a kaleidoscope of colours, an array of aromas with bursting vines and olive groves awaiting harvest time.

The winter months are colder, time to enjoy the quiet villages filled with the cozy aroma of wood burning on the open fires, wrap up warm for a stroll on the beach or soak away your worries in the nearby hot springs of Casiana Terme... Mother Nature's Jacuzzi!

The village is a working village with many of the locals being farmers. extremely friendly and always keen to help.

Santa Luce

The area is full of Roman and Etruscan ruins, as well as beautiful medieval and Renaissance cities, with countless churches, galleries, museums to explore, making it an all year round destination. Pisa 32km, Lucca 50km, Florence 80km, Livorno 28km, Volterra 50km, San Gimignano 70km. Siena 95km.

The hill top villages offer uncrowded tourist interest and good food such as Chiani, Casciano terme, Bolgheri famous for its wine.

In the next little village named Pomaia you find one of the most important Centres for Tibetan Buddhism 'Istituto Lhama Tzong Khapa' with large variety of courses. For lovers of Opera, this area is home to the world famous tenor, Andrea Bocelli, who gives a local concert every July at the open air Teatro del Silenzio, On a middle Sunday in July at Casole d'Elsa – is a mini palio - same ceremonies and horse race, but more intimate than the better known one at Siena. Outside theatre and musical festivals in June/July in Lucca. Racing and many festivals in the villages.

"Great Location, easy drive to Florence, Luca, Sienna as well as small medieval villages and beaches within 30 mins!!!!!!"

Had a great week, the apartment is in a small friendly village with a couple of little shops and a restaurant. Only trouble was trying to fit everything in a week!!! Especially enjoyed all the smaller medieval villages in the hill top's as well as the more tourist places like Voltera, San Gimgano and Lucca which needs a full day to walk around the walled city or hire bikes which is much easier ;). You can also enjoy more lazily days out like visiting Casciana Terma with natural spring baths or spending the day on the beach at Vada. One last thing is that you have a small garden with a table that is quite private to eat al fresco and the Pool is usually quiet as all the Italians prefer to go to the beach!

We would love to have you back, why not try another season and enjoy the different smells and flowers!
