The Tenerife region
ITenerife is the big one of the Canary Islands. Santa Cruz is the capital. It is the cultural centre of the island, with one temperatures between 21 and 30 degrees all the year round, surrounded with nature reserves, mountains. Beaches, parks, rail bicycle and perfect to realize activities with the children.
To 15 minutes by car there is San Cristobal de La Laguna, patrimony of the humanity and cultural city of the islands. There is multitude of restaurants in the zone typical specialized in fish and the main commercial area of Tenerife is to 15 minutes walking.
Classic Music Festivals and activities exist constant in the Auditorium (designed for the prestigious architect Calatrava) and The Guimera Theatre.
Santa Cruz de Tenerife area
Perfect environment to know the historical and commercial centre of the city. 5 minutes driving of the Beach of the Teresitas, 10 min of "Las Gaviotas", and the Nature reserve of the Roques de Anaga. Access to the maritime walk with Rail Bicycle.
You start off by entering the historic core of the city visiting, the plaza de santo domingo, the Iglesia de la Concepcion, The Palacio de Carta, The Teatro Guimerá and the Plaza de España with monument to the Fallen (all 15 minutes walking from the apartment).
The modern part of the city, is characterized by the international Exhibition and Conference centre and the auditorium, both designed by the architect Santiago Calatrava (10 minutes by bus from apartment). Another Option is to take an open air cultural tour, following the trail of a set of impressive sculptures by artists of the standing of Joan Miró and Henry Moore which today adorn the whole city, along the Reyes Católicos and the Asuncionistas Avenues, The Rambla General Franco (10 min walking) and The Parque Garcia Sanabria.
If you are travelling with children you must visit The Castillo de Almeida Military Museum (10 minutes walking from apartment).
You can practice sport amongst dragon trees and Palms in the Parque de la Granja, enjoyed a Guided tour Through and rent a bicycles in the Parque Garcia Sanabria (from 12:00 am to 20:00 pm), or visit the Plaza de la Candelaria.

But if you really want to think green, then you can´t miss Anaga Rural Park, a Natural Protected area which covers 14,418 hectares (very close from apartment). This is one of Tenerife oldest areas as well as that with greatest biodiversity: 1.910 species of fauna. The views are spectacular: ravines carved through the landscape, stormy peaks and traditional hamlets. There are three highly recommended spot to visit: The natural Reserve of Ijuana, El Pijaral an los Roques de Anaga (notable for its laurisilva forest, originating in Tertiary period which today survives only in the Canaries, Madeira and some of the Azores).
Your coastal tour might begin a the Playa de las Teresitas (10 min from apartment by bus), especially if traveling with children, sine it is one of the island´s few beaches which are protected from currents and surf by a breakwater, a kind of artificial reef which shields it form the open sea. Las Teresitas, with its one-hand-a-half kilometers of fine golden san- especially brought from the Sahara in 1973- is a curious exception in the nor of Tenerife, which is characterized by its black sand beaches of volcanic origin.
Carrying on around the island, along the coastal road in the direction of Igueste, two kilometres further on you will come to the Playa de las Gaviotas. Tucked away at the foot of a mountain, open both to the sea and to nudism, with its apron of black sands, it is unashamedly the opposite of the previous one. Beaches with a similar style include Almaciga (perfect for surfers) and Benijos (one of the most attractive in the island group, from which you can see the Roques de Anaga rising up from the depths of the sea). AT all of these, care must be taken, since the counterpart to the fabulous views is the risks created by the currents of the open sea.
The perfect postscript to a day, or holiday, spent on the water, is to end it with a drink in the port, watching the boats and cruisers of all flags and languages coming and going, watching the over four million annual visitors to these coasts disembark, just as that prodigal son once did.

How to get there
Santa Cruz de Tenerife, is one of the most popular tourist destinies in the world.
I recommend to fly to Tenerife North Airport. Most of main Spanish Airlines flies to: Spanair, Iberia, Air Europa, and as well as, international ones. You can arrive from the airport to the property by bus, 5 euro, or Taxi, 18 euro, in 15 minutes.
Also there can go to the Tenerife South Airport (Reina Sofia). All European LOW COST companies, and most of regular international airlines companies flies to these destiny.
In Bus you take 50 minutes to arraive to the property and cost approximately 8 Euros. In taxi, 40 minutes, and it costs 58 Euros.
All the companies of rent of cars are in both airports, with very competitive tariffs. (Hert, Avis, Europcar, CICAR, etc).
