About the home

Quinta Branca is a restored Algarve Holiday rental farmhouse with an adjacent cottage that sleeps up to 12 people. The villa and cottage are secluded with a walled 2 hectare garden
.
Close to the main house and bbq is a heated (optional) pool of generous proportions with spacious poolside relaxing areas either in the sun or shade, completely private. Mature palms are sprinkled around giving a very exotic holiday feel.

Near to the bbq and pool is a detached games room where young and old can play pool on a pub sized table, table football and table tennis, sofa and chairs . Youngsters and oldsters have their own place to relax.

.Quinta Branca villa farmhouse is 600 meters from Santa Barbara de Nexe it is connected directly via a tarmac road or by an ancient donkey track which is accessible by foot and most tranquil and nostalgic. From the south side of the houses you have a panoramic view of the coastline east to the Gulf of Cadiz then over Faro city and nature reserve and west to the Atlantic.

Beaches such as Trafal and Vale do Lobo are a 15min drive and these have many attractions and facilities. St. Barbara is a bustling Algarve village which serves the surrounding area. The village has a bank, post office newsagent , chemist, dentist , international doctors surgery, delicious bakery,
mini market and a healthy number of restaurants and bars. The village is 8 miles from Faro airport a car is recommended and Quinta Branca has parking for 8 plus cars.

Quinta Branca has many areas to sit ,relax and enjoy the warmth, shade and sunshine.
To the front is a large dining area with far reaching views southwards to the coastline, and a shaded area beside it to lounge and read a book.The area is covered by bourganvilla and 'lady of the night' which
boosts a beautiful aroma at dusk, there is a lucious lemon tree close by, which has succulent lemons growing for your gin and tonics.

The central courtyard has a swinging chair to idle time away with your favourite book.

A large BBQ area with dining area beside the pool for the evenings gatherings, a social place to enjoy each others company.

The large area around the pool side has 12 loungers, a huge palm tree for shade to relax away from the midday sun.

The Algarve / East Algarve region

The Algarve has a variable climate. During the summer months it can reach into the 40's, autumn time up to Christmas is generally beautiful blue skies and cool evenings, our hot wood burning stove will keep you cosy in the evenings.

The area has great variety of cheeses, local fish and tasty pastries.made from the local almond and carob.
Close by is Estoi Palace, Loule, Faro, Tavira all interesting places to visit.

The Santa Barbara de Nexe area

Loule has many festivities throughout the year, Halloween was celebrated with a procession of floats, Loule has an interesting market built in a Moorish style, very striking.

Olihao has a busy market of fresh fish, cheese, meat, fruit and vegetables, some good cafes and ice cream parlour.

Quinta Branca is easily accessible from Faro airport, it oy takes 10 minutes to drive into the hillside. The house is reached on a made up road and easy to find, there are no unmade tracks to hunt out after your long journey.

Guestbook for Quinta Branca

To me it was so much better than I expected from the photos- it was larger than I expected-lots of bedrooms to choose from-there were corners to disappear to when you needed some quiet time and plenty of social space for everyone-a fully equipped kitchen with plenty of space to accommodate a variety of breakfasts-cooked and continental.
Outside a fabulous bbq area for even the novice chef to enjoy-
I loved sitting in the shady areas with a good book –I loved swimming in the warm pool-I loved sitting on the swinging hammock –I loved the balcony outside the bedroom especially at night when you can see the lights for miles and watch the stars.
I loved the gardens so well planned and thought out-
I missed out playing tennis on the courts (too hot) next time.
I loved the easy access to the town of Santa Barbara de nexe

Can I say a few words of thanks to you for the perfect setting and subsequent relaxing holiday we all enjoyed.
We all found a spot to enjoy the sun, shade and silence. I have to say the pool was the most used of all the pools that I have encountered in our visits to Portugal, the pool was almost always in constant use, someone trying to keep cool or more energectic trying to keep fit by timing the lengths. The fact that 17 books were read between us has to be testimony to the relaxed atmosphere we found.
Both the Quinta and the cottage were delightful in there own right and the number of different eating places meant that the days were never the same.
In conclusion I would again thank you on behalf of the entire party for allowing us to share this special place of yours.
