Under the rocky peninsular of Roccarasso, you'll find rocky coves and white limestone cliffs totally unlike any other stretch of the Adriatic from Trieste in the north to Italy's "spur" at Gargano in the south.
Cooking in the Abruzzo is deeply rooted in peasant tradition and remains impervious to the arrival of frozen bastoncini di pesce (fish fingers). Here the home cook rather than the professional chef rules and even the smartest restaurants seek to produce food just like nonna, or grandmother, used to make.
Sant Eusanio del Sangro area
Lanciano is an historical town with churches and museums, Castel Frentano is a pretty town. It is also ideal for shopping.
In the village of Sant Eusanio del Sangro itself there are all the amenities you could ask for. It has supermarkets, restaurants, cafe's, a bank and ATM, bakery, newsagent and market which takes place once a week.
It is a great spot for walking with amazing countryside views or for those wanting a bit more vigorous exercise try cycling or visiting the adventure park. There are many lakes in the area which are great for those wanting to relax near water and even fish.
