The Ibiza region
Famous for its hippies and nightlife, cosmopolitan Ibiza is the summer party capital of the world, with spectacular clubs and world famous DJs. Ibiza has more to offer though than just its nightlife, there are over 80 beaches and clear blue sea, stunning landscapes, pretty villages and an amazing history.
Ibiza is well known for its nightlife but unlike many other party resorts, it boasts the old city of D'alt Vila, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its maze of steep narrow streets. As the sun begins to set, the street markets and cafés burst to life and Ibiza’s exhibitionists take to the streets to prance, cavort and entertain.
Ibiza has more than 80 beaches; some are elusive and unspoilt, such as Cala des Multons, while others such as Cala Llonga offer shallow waters perfect for families. Whether you are looking for a long sandy beach or a hidden cove, Ibiza has something for you. The north of Ibiza is stunning with unblemished acres of lemon and olive groves, green hillsides and rugged cliffs. Farmers still use ancient terracing to cultivate their crops and irrigation techniques introduced by the Arabs over a 1000 years ago. Ibiza's climate make it a great holiday destination at any time of year: warm days in winter; the explosion of almond blossom in spring; beaches and parties in summer; warm sea and cooler evenings in autumn.
Sant Carles de Peralta
San Carlos is a small traditional village that is rapidly expanding its range of shops and businesses. Enjoy visiting the church , the famous Bar Anita, the museum and Las Dalias (the nearby hippie market), as well as having dinner or ambling around the new area of the village centred around two pedestrianised and very child friendly streets. As the village amenities mostly service the local residents, it does not turn into a ghost town out of season.
San Carlos now has a fantastic children's playground, which is enjoyed from morning until night by locals as well as visiting youngsters. Parents can enjoy a drink or dinner at Restaurant Peralta while watching their children play. Next to the playground, and opposite Restaurant Peralta, is the new village green offering lots of opportunities for community activities, but mostly children's parties and the annual San Carlos Fiesta.
Santa Eulalia, Ibiza's third largest resort, is a short drive away. A popular destination for families and those seeking a quieter holiday. There is a beautiful, palm-lined promenade running the length of the broad and sandy beach (which is perfectly safe for the kids) and some excellent hotels and apartments in and around the town itself.
Santa Eulalia has a long-established reputation as the island's gastronomic and cultural centre, art galleries, beautiful and exclusive yacht marina, some of the island's best restaurants, exclusive shopping and a thriving all-year community.
