About the home

Welcome to villa Berta , a charming three bedroom house of character located in the village of Sannat. On the ground floor you will find one double bedroom with shower en suite, wide hall, soild timber kitchen, separate dining room, and a separate living room and spare toilet. At the back of the house is a south facing swimming pool (14x 26feet) and a barbque area, with enough space for outside dining and sunbathing. An internal stone staircase leads to the first floor. The first floor comprises of two bedrooms, both with single beds, one with shower en suite and the other with bath en suite. All bedrooms are with ceiling fans. There are two nicely sized balconies on the first floor, one at the front, with lovely views, and one at the back. There is also a private drive-way.

The Island of Gozo region

Gozo Is a place to escape to at any time of the year. The people are welcoming and friendly,the countryside both dramatic and picturesque and if you want to get away from it all you can. It has all the essential ingredients that makes it an ideal holiday destination. Even if you are there for a short visit, it is easy to see why Gozo has become known as undiscovered paradise. Green hills and fertile valleys separte one village from the other. Wherever you look the sea is always within the reach of the eye.Choose from rocky inlets to red sand beaches or sail,snorkel,dive and fish. Gozo has some of the Mediterranean's best dive sites.
Not to mention a nightlife and cultural calendar and seaside restaurants that serves you fish caught only hours before and the Italian influence of pizza and pasta or try the local specialities for a great dining out.

The Sannat area

The charm of the island makes itself apparent as soon as you arrive. Sannat lies to the south of the island of Gozo, Sannat is a tranquil village, walking distance to the capital Victoria which is 2Km away. There are some good restaurants and bars. Sannat is great for walking and bike riding.

Flights from most airports to Malta. Car transfer to ferry boat ( about 40 minutes drive) . You take the ferry across to Gozo ( about 20 minutes) and car transfer to the villa which will take 10 minute drive.Car rental and airport transfers can be arranged at reasonable prices.

“A lovely spacious house owned by friendly, helpful people” If you are looking for a family friendly holiday, Gozo in October is perfect. Ta Berta is a lovely house & Sam & Michelle are fantastic hosts; very helpful & friendly offering advice on where to go & weather reports for the next few days. The house was exactly as described although the stairs were a little steeper than we realised (only an issue for our nearly 2 year old). The pool looked amazing and had the weather been warmer we would have used it regularly. The onsuite bathrooms were lovely and the shower in the main ensuite was so good I wanted to take it home! The only slightly negative comment would be that a few more kitchen utensils and pans would have been useful as we cooked & ate at the house quite regularly as with small children we didn't want to be eating out late.

“Wonderful, relaxing holiday, fantastic hosts” It was nice to arrive to a genuine warm welcome from Sam and Michelle. The Welcome Pack and Cake was a lovely touch and much appreciated. Ta Berta was well situated and all of Gozo's amenities are within easy reach. The house is very clean and roomy and particularly attractive with open terraces and balconies. Sam and Michelle were always ready to help and advise if required but were not obtrusive in any way.The pool was always a welcome break after exploring Gozo and some days we just lazed by the pool. The village of Sannat has several local bars and small supermarkets and if it is a buzzing nightlife you want forget it, this village is for a laid back relaxed holiday with very friendly locals. There are 6 places to eat, two Pizzerias (next door to each other) Ta Rosinas bar, which also does home made local food if requested, L'iskoll restaurant (which we thought was the best) but pricier than La girne which was also good, these are both situated by Ta Cenc hotel which obviously you can also dine at. Best beach was at Ramala bay(haggle for the sunbeds and parasols) prettiest in our opinion was Xlendi with its lovely harbour and very good selection of restaurants. This holiday location would suit anyone who wants a quiet but traditional and very welcoming base to explore the charms of Gozo and Malta.

Thank you doesn't seem to be enough! Xilla Berta is absolutely stunning,so much so, we've missed out on what the rest of Gozo has to offer!! just the excuse we need to come back and stay again!

We have one major problem with villa Berta - we don't own it !! It's the most beautiful villa and so tastefully decorated.Sam and Michelle are fantastic hosts,friendly and cater for all their guests so well.We have always been on package holidays before this one but never again,this beautiful accomadation will never be found on a package deal.We absolutely adored the pool,we all spent hours in it even baby Ewan !
Thanks so much for making this a fab holiday and we will be back !!
