The Island of Gozo region

Gozo is a small island north of Malta, very different from Malta, the island offers a welcoming & relaxing refuge from our busy lives. Surrounded by crystal clear, warm, blue seas & blessed with an amazing climate, its a fantastic place to visit all year round. The local cuisine is strongly influenced by it's Italian neighbours and with one of the main industries still fishing, fresh fish is always bountiful. Local beer and wine is good and inexpensive.

The locals are among the most welcoming you can find, there are many fiestas throughout the summer offering processions, music & fireworks and you will feel part of the community if you are lucky enough to get along to one.

The pace of life in Gozo is very slow and gentle, it is the perfect place to relax.

Sannat is a small town which centres around it's stunning church. There are a few rustic bars, restaurants and shops where you will always be welcomed. At the top end of the town you will find the renowned 5 star hotel " Ta Cenc" it's open to non residents so is well worth a visit. The Ta Cenc cliffs are great for those who enjoy walking.

From Sannat all of the islands major tourist attractions can be easily reached, by car or bus.

"Awesome views, amazing apartment"

We stayed here in August 2012 and it was amazing. We went as a family, second time to Gozo but first time to this apartment. We already loved Gozo – it's got a real charm, the people are lovely, it feels safe, and there is enough to keep a young family occupied for 10 days or so. Xlendi is fun and a good place to go for a long lunch – there are three restaurants on a very sheltered cove on the seafront – one is called the Stone Crab – and you can ask for a water-side table and enjoy a civilized bite to eat while the kids play in the very safe, shallow, warm water right next to you. We spent many a happy few hours here! The thing that really made this trip though, was the apartment. I think it must be the highest point on the island – certainly you can see right across to Malta and over to Victoria, the island's capital. And what a place to do it from: the roof terrace has panoramic 360 degree views and is about the most perfect sundowner spot I can imagine. The apartment itself is great. It's well furnished, contemporary, extremely clean, and there is plenty of loafing space, so if you are travelling with younger children you don't feel at all captive when they go to bed at night. We felt completely at home here from the get-go. Although the apartment is fairly out of the way (definitely recommend a hire car), it's well worth a walk to the little tavernas in the village, which are crazily cheap and actually sell fairly edible food and drinkable wine. The five star hotel Ta'Cenc is also within walking distance and is a good place to go for a drink and a swim. All in all, totally rate this place and will definitely return. Soon I hope!

"If you need some sun, to relax and meet friendly people - look no further than Gozo!"

This was our first trip to Gozo and it was a truly 'escape from the rat race and relax in the sun holiday!' The apartment is clean and fitted with all appliances one could ever need which makes it a very comfortable holiday. We choose to go late September last year and the weather was fantastic (30 degrees and sun every day) and the island is a bit more quiet outside the school holidays which was a plus. The roof top terrace is amazing - for sunbathing and relaxing in the day and to watch the sunset with a beer in the evening. The area around the flat is great, there is none of the somewhat tacky hotels that you see Marsalforn on the north coast or on Malta. There is only a few holiday apartments and a low luxury hotel where day guests can go for supper and have a pamper day at the spa or a drink on the terraces.

Sannat feels like a place were the gozitans(people of Gozo) live. There is a small shop to buy groceries but there is some large supermarkets in Victoria that are a better choice to stock up in. Do try the Xlendi Pleasure Cruises half day tour to The Blue Lagoon for fantastic snorkelling in turquoise waters! We especially liked two restaurants: Ta' Karolina in Xlendi(ask for a table by the water) and Patrick's in Victoria(fine dining).

We loved the friendly locals, they could not do enough to help and were very generous with advice and funny anecdotes when you talk to them. A very religious people that genuinely seem to enjoy other people discovering their island.

So if you need to get away to recharge your batteries Gozo is a fantastic island with a gentle pace that is good for the soul and much better weather than at home!
