The Florida / Florida Gulf Coast region

Sanibel is situated in the Gulf of Mexico on the South West Coast of Florida. The Island is 20 miles by about 3 miles and is accessed via a causeway from the mainland just west of Fort Myers. Sanibel is far enough south to enjoy excellent weather all year round. It is renowned for it's beaches and specifically for shelling (It said to be the 'shell capital of the world') Equally most of the Island is dedicated to wildlife on the unspoilt nature reserves. The extensive cycle paths are a great and safe way to see the Island and cycles are available from the local hire shops.

When travelling from the UK/Europe, the most likely cheapest way, is to fly into Miami and hire a car from there. (Approx 120 min drive).


Sanibel area

Sanibel's strict planning laws have maintained a tropical island paradise atmosphere. No buildings are over 3 storeys; there are NO fast food chains and strict traffic laws. There are no traffic lights etc - real people direct traffic and ensure no one comes to harm. Equally the 'community' atmosphere means there is almost zero crime on the Island. There is an abundance and broad range of independently owned restaurants, including a large number that are five star rated and a variety of more casual places to eat and be entertained.

There is enough room and furnishings to ensure that even fully occupied, you will not feel overcrowded - there is enough space and facilities to ensure everyone gets the holiday experience they will fully enjoy.

Large secluded plot with only a few steps via a deeded access to the beach. The property also benefits from a synthetic tennis/ basketball court and heated full size pool with decking, sun loungers and BBQ area. The house is situated on a shell drive lined with palms and the garden enjoys the same along with shrubs adding to the island atmosphere and seclusion. Fishing and boating available at the Marina, which is a short walk away. Each balcony has a different vista along with full BBQ and dining facilities. The property also benefits from ‘residents’ access to the many wonderful beaches on both Sanibel and Capitiva islands.

We have recently purchased our home on Sanibel and our guests who stayed for ALL of March 2005 have also booked March 2006 - We are very pleased they liked it that much.

I am just dropping you a quick line to thank you for letting us use your wonderful house
on Sanibel island this summer (2006), we had a fantastic time and the island is truly a magical place.
The weather was typical Florida summer fare, very hot days followed by the customary afternoon
thunderstorms, we are quite used to this being Florida veterans.
We enjoyed ourselves so much in fact that we would like to book again for next year at the same
sort of time (if the house was available) if this met with your approval, of course. The only difference
would be that I would like my brother, his wife and son to accompany us as they have 'fallen in love'
with our photographs.
Perhaps you could let me know if this meets with your approval, so that we can make this a formal
booking, as soon as we get my daughter's school holiday dates.
