About the home

Both Worlds is a beach front apartment complex located on the eastern side of Gibraltar. The apartment is situated in the part of the complex designated for " over 50's". Telephone 00350 20061881
is for incoming calls only, ADSL is availiable in the main reception area via a remote connection free of charge.We can arrange for wifi in the flat for you for an extra charge of 24.00 pounds.
The televison in the appartment offers a wide selection of channels, including all the main english channels, BBC ITV Channel Four/ Five and all the sky movies, sports etc, home from home as far as TV in Gibraltar.
The village of Catalan Bay is a 10 minute walk away,offering a small shop and some fish/tapas restaurants. The Caleta Hotel next to Catalan Bay provides bar meals as well as an Italian Restaurant. Should you feel like a little pampering the hotel also offers a Health and Beauty centre and a hair dresser, all available to non residents of the hotel.

The main town of Gibraltar is a short bus ride away ( the number 4 bus runs from a stop 5 minute walk from the complex at 20 minute intervals). There is also a shutle bus service that runs from outside the main entrance of Both Worlds to Market place.Taxis are plentful in town.

The owners of the apartment have endeavoured to provide a home from home with taste and style, a well equipped kitchen and bathroom,a welcome pack including tea. coffee, sugar, milk and mineral water. incoporating air conditioning in the bedroom. Ceiling fan in lounge, with portable fan , oil filled portable radiator.
The apartment has a deciated housekeeper who will ensure that the apartment is in a pristine condition for your arrival. Both the owner and the housekeeper live within the complex, one of whom will welcome you to your apartment and ensure everything is to your satisfaction.
A portable shopping trolley is provided, if required a basic shop can be provided at your expense. At 48 hours notice. Bed linen and towels are changed on a weekly basis. A small selection of books to suit all tastes are available in the apartment. Also a host of information leaflets of what to do , where to go or where to eat are provided for your perusal

Although located on the first floor of the complex , the apartment can be easily accessed via lift a minute's walk to the apartment door.
Both the bedroom and lounge offer superb views over the beach and the Mediterranean.

Both Worlds has a reception which is open Monday to Friday 09.00 to 13.00 ( manned by a House Manager).

Conditions

The rental rate is for a seven night stay, but we are happy to quote for longer stays.Minimum three night stay. A 50% deposit ( non refundable) is required at the time of booking. Full balance is due prior to the arrival date, plus a £50.00 bond , refundable on the return of the keys to cover any damages incurred during your stay or lost keys

The Rock of Gibraltar region

Gibraltar the gateway to the Mediterranen has attracted visitors for centuries. One of the most famous events was when Nelson's body was brought ashore at Rosia Bay following the Battle of Trafalgar. Strategic in the Second World War Gibraltar hosts a wealth of history for visitors to see.
Gibraltar is a British colony , which will give you plenty of reminders of home ,Policeman's hats, red mail boxes to the pubs with draught ale.
Intrested in nature on land or sea, Gibraltar has surprises, Dolphins and other marine mammals, including Pilot and Killer Whales and on occasions a Sperm Whale. For bird watches Gibraltar offers a variety of local and migatory birds. During the migration period thousands of birds visit Gibraltar as there last crossing point when heading throught the straits and on to Africa.
Modern day Gibraltar offers sightseeing , duty free shopping , as well as dining in one of Gibraltar's marinas or town restaurants.

English is the main language spoken, although Spanish is also widely spoken.

Currency is Pound Sterling with Gibraltar having its own coins and notes , their face value being the same as Pound Sterling.

Electricity is the same voltage as the UK and the apartment is fitted with standard three pin plugs

The climate has an average of 320 days of sunshine a year and temperatures can rise well above 30 degrees in summer. The sub tropical sun of North Africa is tempered by gentle sea breezes in summer

The Sandy Bay / Both Worlds area

Both Worlds is located on the eastern side of the Rock in Sandy Bay. Originally built as a hotel it has been refurbished to a high standard and converted into apartments. It over looks a popular beach.
Apartment 203 is an attractive one bedroom apartment with its own private balcony, located in a section of the development which is restricted to persons over 50 . Relax on the balcony in the morning with a cup of tea and watch the sunrise, or in the evening with a pre dinner drink .

The straits of Gibraltar are amongst the busiest shipping lanes in the world. From the balcony you can watch the cruise liners, commercial shipping and little fishing boats sail past.

The Costa del Sol has many Golf course which are approximately a thirty minute drive away from the La Linea - Gibraltar border. See file in the apartment.

With Effect March 2013 Birmigham will operate flights to Gibraltar and are already taking bookings
Most regional airports in the UK fly to Malaga which is approximately one and half hours away and Jerez approximately one hour away.
Taxis are available from Gibraltar airport, (Telephone 20070027) should you wish to hire a car, car hire is available at Malaga, Jerez and Gibraltar airports.
If you are making your own way, once you have arrived in Gibraltar and driven over the runway, at the first roundabout you come to , turn left and follow the road, keep on the road past Catalan Bay located on you left after a few minutes drive, over two sets of taffic lights and Both Worlds is there as you drive along on the left hand side.

“WOW WHAT A VIEW !!!!!!!!!” My husband and I stayed in this apartment after Christmas for a few days. We found the apartment to be very clean comfy and well equiped.With stunning views from the balcony, there is nothing we could fault with this apartment. With just a short walk to Catalan Bay where there is small shop for any essentials and a couple of restuarants which we found very reasonably priced. Or if you prefer to go a little further there is a bus from the reception at Both World's which will take you into town. We found Both World's to be a great place to chill out and relax but within easy reach of the town. We are missing the sound of the sea sending us to sleep at night, so thank you Judy the apartment is super and yes we will return.

“Home from home” We stayed at this apartment for two weeks in June. It is ideal for a couple.It has all the facilities you need for a holiday;clean,lovely bedroom,the kitchen though small has all the facilities you need,nice bathroom and a lovely lounge to relax or watch T.V. It also has a lovely balcony to relax ,with a fantastic view across the Med. the sunrise in the mornings is striking. Judy was very welcoming , attentive and helpful. We liked it so much that we have booked to go again next year.The beach is easily accessible, and the centre of town 10 minutes away by a very efficient and cheap bus service. Gibraltar is a unique place with a friendly population with a British outlook it is a sterling area and everybody speaks English

“Best view imaginable” Early March we stayed in the lovely little apartment. As we are in our fifties, we fitted in just right in the over-50's apartment development. The apartment has all mod cons , including satellite TV with all the usual UK channels. But the deepest impressing memories we have of the lovely seaview, seeing the sun rise in the morning, waking to the sound of the waves. 10 minutes bus ride takes you from the front door of the complex right into town, yet you stay on one of the few remaining places away-from-it-all on the rock Although being Dutch we were immediatly feeling at home on the rock helped by the Uk atmosphere, language and supermarket. Would recommend Both worlds to anyone over 50, and we will definitely try to go back again sometime near future

“Home from Home” Lovely little apartment with a great view of the sea. It was in excellent condition and spotlessly clean. Transport to and from the town was great with an excellent bus service. The availability of books, games etc was greatly appreciated as it saved having to pack such items in your case. Pity about the weather but hopefully next time the weather will be kinder. Would certainly stay here again.

“Neat apartment in great location” Stayed in Both Worlds in 1984 when it was a hotel. Was interested to see it now it has been converted to residential properties. Was not disappointed. This apartment is bright, comfortable and airy. There is a fantastic view over the sea from the balcony and one day walking from the apartments came across three rock apes fighting in the road! Everything that is needed seemed to have been thought of and provided. Judy met us on arrival and gave us a comprehensive tour of the property. She then left us to do as we wished and merely told us where to leave the keys on departure. A lot of information is provided within the property concerning what is on offer in Gibraltar. A good bus service is available either from immediately outside the apartments or within 5 minutes walk. Restaurants are available about 10 minutes walk away in Catalan Bay, or, of course, in town. We had three good days here and would certainly go back.
