The Isle of Wight region
The Isle of Wight famous for its superb beaches, dramatic coastlines and outstanding natural beauty, the Island is a holiday haven with something for everyone. From secluded coves and wide expanses of sandy beaches it's not just the stunning landscapes that attract visitors to the Island, but the variety of things to see and do. Rich in a wide variety of sporting and leisure activities, visitors return year after year to enjoy another holiday with Home from Home Holidays. Self-catering is the most popular option because it is both cost effective and offers flexibility with the freedom to come and go as you please.
Sandown bay, with Shanklin to the south and Yaverland and Culver cliff to the north, offers far reaching sandy beaches, which are gently sloping and ideal for safe bathing. One of the few towns on the island which has retained its pier, this provides amusements, fairground rides and facilities for anglers. Sandown is a family resort, with nightclubs, pubs, restaurants and cafes. There's also Browns pitch and putt, the Zoo with tiger sanctuary and even the 'Dinosaur Isle' museum.
Yaverland is easily accessible by car or on foot. There's ample parking, a kiosk and toilet facilities, as well as the yacht club. The area is great for families and adjoins the towering chalk cliffs of Culver.
Brading is one of the oldest towns on the Isle of Wight and steeped in history. Here you can explore the pretty Norman church of St Mary's, the Bull Ring and the Old Town Hall, with its whipping post and stocks. Other attractions include the Brading Roman Villa, The Lilliput Antique Doll and Toy Museum and Morton Manor with its cider making, gardens and maize.
Shanklin has long been a location for family holidays, with a safe sandy beach and clear waters. Along the esplanade, which can also be accessed via the Cliff Lift, is a pitch and putt green, children's amusements, restaurants and car parking. Shanklin's pretty Old Village is renowned for its thatched cottages, quaint shops and old fashioned tea rooms. Shanklin Chine is a deep gorge carved out by a stream, where in the evening the waterfalls and woodland are illuminated, giving the gardens a totally different aspect and atmosphere, a must for visitors.
