The Isle of Wight region

The Isle of Wight is situated approximately 3 miles off the English Southern Coastline. It is known for its breathtaking scenery with much of the Island being designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Island first became popular as a holiday destination during Victorian times and its unique charm still entices over 2.5 million visitors each year.

It is quite easy to appreciate why the Island attracts so many, with its scenic coastline, award winning golden beaches, charming little villages and temperate climate – in fact the Island can boast more hours of sunshine than most other destinations in Britain. For the more energetic, the Island offers over 500 miles of maintained footpaths which makes it ideal for walkers and cyclists alike. The Islands towns offer a comprehensive range of shops and amenities including many 'High Street' names together with popular cafes, bars and restaurants - some even being awarded the 'Michelin Star'. All in all the Island is a wonderful holiday destination, catering for all ages and with activities for all interests.

Sandown

Sandown became a popular seaside resort back in Victorian times and shares its bay with Shanklin. Pleasant walks along the Esplanade can be enjoyed with views across the fine golden sands of the beaches stretching over the bay to the English Channel beyond.

Sandown also hosts one of the Islands few remaining piers offering amusements, cafe, bar, children’s play areas and designated areas for sea fishing – great for the keen sea angler! In addition, there can also be found the Isle of Wight Zoo (big cat sanctuary), tennis courts, putting greens, leisure complex, tea rooms and restaurants. At night, Sandown comes to life with a variety of pubs and clubs where you can dance the night away. A great destination for a holiday with so much to do and being a perfect base from which to explore the rest of the Island...

"A*****"

First impressions really do count.... My first impression as I walked through the door was how clean it was. plenty of space for all of us and after a long journey it was nice to be met with tea bags … More

"Nice chalet, ok location"

Our chalet was lovely. Clean and tidy with lots of thoughtful touches from the owners. Riviera park itself is looking a bit tired but overall it is a nice place with lots of open areas so not all crammed in. The location of the park is ok but you really need a car to get around as it is up quite a large hill at the edge of sandown. We walked to sandown a couple of times but it wasn't an easy walk.
