Dymchurch not only has blue flag beaches of golden sand but it is the home of the fictional character Dr.Syn created by Russell Thorndike .The Reverend DrSyn secretly led a gang of smugglers in the town. Every two years Dymchurch holds it's Days of Syn Pageant with battle re-enactments on the beach and a host of other events throughout the town. This year will be the 5oth anniversary of the first Syn Day in 1964.

Sandgate village 5minute walk, Folkestone half a mile in distance, and 20mins walk, along the promenade beach front from Sandgate, with views of the English channel. Oldtimer Rally – a good day out for participants and anyone else who wants to come and have a look and enjoy the atmosphere.
Its situation, on The Leas in front of The Grand, is probably one of the finest such spots anywhere in the world, with a backdrop of majestic late Victorian and Edwardian buildings and views across the busy shipping lanes of the English Channel to France on clear days.
