Sanary sur Mer
Sanary-Sur-Mer is a delightful fishing village situated on the Cote d'Azur, 40km east of Marseille, close to the port of Toulon.
Sanary is a charming village which remains full of life all year round. It is essentially unspoiled and in the main undiscovered by foreign tourists. For walkers, cyclists, nature lovers, golfers or even those going to Toulon to watch the rugby, Sanary-Sur-Mer is a charming retreat.
Sanary features an array of cafés overlooking the colourful harbour, cobbled side streets and shady squares with interesting little restaurants and boutiques. There's a daily farmer's market selling fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese, meat and fish and early morning sales of fish from small stands at the harbour's edge. Every Wednesday the large weekly market takes place by the harbour from where you can also take day trips on passenger boats or game fishing trips.
In summer season, the Mairie puts on free concerts by the harbour and the road is lined by local artisans selling their wares.
