The Sicily region
San Vito Lo Capo is a small city on a splendid bay.The town is considerably young even if it offers some architectural corners other than the Main Church and the Chapel of S. Crescenzia already mentioned on the page of history.Via Venza is a small road by the Main Church, parallel to Via Savoia, the main road, which takes to the beach. The particularity of this street is the decoration created and maintained by the people owning stores and houses in this street. There are several murals on the walls painted by local artists, several old watering trough used now as vases for geraniums and other many-coloured flowers.
San Vito Lo Capo / Macari area
The original inhabitants of Sicily, long absorbed into the general population, were tribes known to Greek writers as the Elymians, the Sicani and the Siculi or Sicels. Of these, the last were clearly the latest to arrive on this land and were related to other Italic peoples of southern Italy, such as the Italoi of Calabria, the Oenotrians, Chones, and Leuterni (or Leutarni), the Opicans, and the Ausones. It is possible, however, that the Sicani were originally an Iberian tribe. The Elymi, too, may have distant origins outside of Italy, in the Aegean Sea area
How to get there
The Residence Cala dell`Arena rises in Macari on the western coast of Sicily. Macari lies on the omonymous gulf and has an enchanting coast line. The pure, warm and limpide sea water joins a fresh and clean air and a quiet environment.The gulf of Macari, can be reached also by sea from the town of San Vito lo Capo sailing along the coast. The coast line is plain, then rich of green, nice mountains up to the Mount Cofano where you will find little and enchanting little gulfs with white stones and emerald-like sea water.
