The Sicily region

Thanks to the mild climate due to its position at the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily is a land that can be enjoyed every time of the year. Visitors come to Sicily not only for its excellent culinary tradition which made it famous all over the world, but also for its naturalistic, as well as, historical attractions which make it unique.

Very rich in ancient monuments and archeological sites, thanks to the many foreign populations which lived in the country, leaving their own influence and imprint, Sicily has a huge wealth of culture to offer its visitors.

Its landscapes are so different and characteristic as we move from the hinterland, with the typical multicolored ploughed fields, to the coasts with its different nuances of blue.

San Vito Lo Capo

Monte Cofano Natural Reserve, with its cliffs sheer over the blue sea offers its visitors a stunning landscape and breathtaking views. Ideal for lovers of trekking, mountain biking, naturalistic walks and outdoor sports in close contact with Nature, as well as, for lovers of holidays far from the mass tourism, the area is perfect for great relax and Nature contemplation.

The many small bays the area offers face an uncontaminated, blue water, ideal for snorkeling.

Monte Cofano' s chalky promontory is characterized by a series of caves , especially on the Custonaci side, the most famous ones are the Grotte di Scurati, dating back to the prehistoric times, today used as shelter for cattle and farming equipment. Nowadays, the cave presents an ancient rural small village with scattered rural houses and a small chapel and it's possible to admire ancient graffiti on the rocks, dating back to the Paleolithic age.

A small internal path drives to the peak of the mountain where it is possible to admire a unique view of the two bays of San Vito lo Capo and Castelluzzo.

Of particular interest are the two old defensive towers one, Torre del Cofano, on the Custonaci side, the other one, La Tonnara, facing Castelluzzo bay. These towers, charming and mysterious, witness nowadays the old Sicilian defensive system against Turkish pirates.

Ideal for bird-watching, the area hosts different species, even rare, such as the peregrine falcon and a rich varied, endemic fauna.

The area is not far from the main centers with amenities and shops, reachable in less than 5/10 minutes by car. For lovers of the beach, San Vito Lo Capo beach is at only 10 minutes by car, while Santa Margherita Bay, in Custonaci, offering different tourist services, is at about 5 minutes by car.

The area is also perfect for daily visits to the major cultural sites such as Erice, Marsala, Trapani, Segesta, Motia island and the Egadi Islands.
