There is central heat and air-conditioning plus an extra heating unit in the bathroom as well as two extra cool ceiling fans above the bed and dining table. It has a double bed curtained off from the twin daybed witha hanging clothes & luggage rack. The large heated bathroom has a sit-down tub with a removable shower nozzle surrounded by Taratine marble tiles as well as a vanity & dressing area. The kitchen is fully furnished with new units & appliances with a good sized table & four modern chairs. All the windows are doubled for insulation & screened for fresh bug-free air to flow. Guests can eat 'al fresco' under the wooden veranda, de-stress while lounging in the lawn chairs, float on an air mattress in the 5X3 above-ground pool or relax on the hammock while star-gazing. Kids can play in the large pine-shaded garden nearby which has a swing set, trampoline, play house, see-saw, basketball hoops & a picnic bench. The cottage rests on lush green grounds during November to June timeframe after the Almond crop is harvested in September. We have over 65 varied almond trees which guests are encouraged to try (especially good toasted). There is an organic fruit orchard with figs, pears, apples, oranges, peaches, grapes, lemons fresh for the picking-eating during their season as well as numerous 'Fichia di India' prickly pear cactus fruits & other varieties to eat or admire. There is a 400sqm enclosed soccer-football camp for picnics, camping, kids, pets, etc. and pleny of bikes to enjoy on the large paved areas or adjacent bike trail which leads to the WWF Torre Guaceto nature reserve-beach-musuem 8kms away. There are plenty of additional sites-cities to visit within an hour: there is the UNESCO sites of Alberobello-'Trulli City' & pre-historic 'Rock city' of Matera, as well as the Castellana Caves, Ignanzia ruins, & Baroque cities of Leece & Martina Franca. Spend a day driving North up the coast to Polignano di Mare, Monopoli, Bari or the Gargano lake areas, or head south to Leece, Otranto, & Santa Maria de Leuca at the bottom of the boot where the Adriatic & Ionian seas meet. Head slightly west to the Ionian seaside of Puglia to visit Gallipoli or Potenza to see how the Romans made their way down to Brindisi & Leece where you can visit the ancient columns which marked the original 'Appian way' trail. Sit-back, relax & enjoy a bottle of Puglia's great Salento wines (Primitivo, Negroamaro (including blushes), Falanghina, Fiano, Verdeca or Chardonnay) which are available at any one of many supermarkets, enotecas or ask about our customized wine tours where you can buy at wholesale prices (ck out tours www.winetourspuglia.com and ask me about your 25% guest-only discount). Enjoy snacking on tradtional Pugliese bread twists with the best olive oil and vegatable patès in the world. Don't forget the beaches which from mid-April to early October are still warm enough to enjoy. There are both sandy & rocky shores, internationally recognized by 49 countries & garner 'Blue Flag-Bandiera Blu' ratings due to their balance of natural beauty, cleanliness & respect for their environment. Fresh produce, excellent fresh-cut meats and of course homemade ice-cream, breads, cheeses, wines, oils, patès & pasta are abundent in this small area as are friendly English & Italian speaking folks. Oh, and don't forget some of the freshest seafood in the world!
The cottage is easily accessed by either the front via Brindisi SS16/SP1 bis private gate or the shared gate located off the back country access road (c.da Specchia di Mare). We are centrally located between the port city of Brindisi & the hillside 'white city' of Ostuni as well as equally between Bari & Leece cities & airports. Guests can easily reach us by train, plane or boat in either Brindisi, Bari, or even Naples or Rome. A car is not needed but recommended with lots to see & do nearby but ask me about our low-cost private driver service if you want to forgo the costs & hassles of hiring a car. There is a public bus stop within 300 meters for city-city access or we can take and-or guide you anywhere in or near Puglia including Brindisi, Ostuni, Bari, Alberobello, Matera, Leece, Otranto, Gallipoli, Gargano, Trieste, Naples or Rome.

About this location
The Puglia region
We have the best of both worlds, quiet countryside residence with easy access to town. We are only 900 meters from the self-contained town of San Vito dei Normanni, Salento province, at the top of the heel of the Italian boot. Guests can easily reach any Puglia site as we are centrally located between Ostuni-Brindisi and Lecce-Bari and less than an hour's drive to the Ionian side which also has stunning drives and beaches.
Guest can easily reach the international air & sea ports of Brindisi and Bari within 15 and 65 minutes respectively. Both host international ferry & cruiselines throughout Europe & Africa with daily services to Greece, Albania & Turkey; making it very economical to launch from us (we'll even store your car or luggage while your away). Why travel afar when there is so much going on locally and near-nightly; from sight-seeing, festival-hopping, food-wine tastings, open-air market shopping and sea-side outings including water skiing & fishing. It all awaits you in Puglia--check us out.
San Vito dei Normanni
Top attractions include Ostuni the 'White City', Alberobello 'Trulli capital', Fasano Zoo Safari & water park, Castellana Caves, Polignano di Mare seaside restaurants-views, Bari lungomare, Castel del Monte, Gargano lakes, numerous sea grottos, Lecce, the 'baroque city', Martina Franca 'the Florence of the South', Santa Maria de Leuca at the end of the boot, Egnanzia Ancient Ruins and last but by far least, Matera, the pre-historic 'Sassi' city . The real gems however are here within the local city's historic town center, people and gastronomical jewels including freshly made cheeses, breads, pasta, olive oil & wine. Guests can arrange for guided Italian or English speaking tours to nearby 'frantoias', 'masserias' or 'cantinas' while tasting Puglia and perhaps Europe's biggest and best grape & olive producers. You'll also find the best agricultural products you've ever tasted, freshly grown locally in a biological manner.
From traditional festivals, pubs, restaurants, bakeries, wine, olive oil and home-made cheese and pasta shops to castles and churches, guests have all they need within walking distance. Fantastic beaches, golf, spas, shopping centers and famous tourist sites are all reachable within minutes.

"Very nice experience"
To start with the owners , extremely friendly and helpfull. Donna is always looking for those little things which can improve your stay. As a welcome there is bottle of wine , a couple of beers , egg… More
Thank you new friends for your kind words and unbiased compliments & support during those few challenging days I had. I wish the weather had been better and your time with us longer so we could have bbq'd or had you over for our traditional Pugliese Sunday dinner. I'll make sure I let the local locanda owner aware of your powerful compliment and keep passing along the 10% off your meal cards. You left the cottage in fantastic shape which is one of the bonuses of having a new, smaller & more efficient accommodation which is perfect for a couple, friends or small family of three. It's always nice to see guests enjoy our welcome baskets and especially the fruits of our land (almonds mainly). I'm glad you took the opportunity to sit back, relax & take in the quiet countryside without working too much! You are ALWAYS welcome to visit or stay with us and take advantage of our 5% discount we offer returnees on their next stay. We also offer accumulative 5% referral discounts if your friends, family or co-workers book with us, so spread the word & work on a free stay! Take care and have a wonderful summer-year! Your new Pugliese friends, Donna & Tonino.

"A relaxing, friendly and homely place to stay"
We always receive a warm welcome and feel at home in Donna's cottage. The cottage is lovely and has all you need for a good holiday. The area is beautiful with plenty to do and you are very close to the sea. The owners are lovely and very helpful, we spent evenings drinking wine together and sampling Puglian food - which is really good ! We highly recommend staying at Donna's cottage. We are returning for our 4th time this June !
Dear Kerry, you all are always welcome to stay with us anytime as we have went year-round this year. Don't forget to ask for your 5% return discount plus your 15% military affiliate discount for your next stay with us which basically means you'll get two free nights and it applies for Villa Donna as well! We try to make everyone feel at home by providing as many comforts as possible. All you need to do is ask and we will get it for you if we don't have it next door. I can't wait to see what you think of Villa Donna and look forward to introducing you, your hubby and your friend to a few more Salento wines and Pugliese foods, maybe even take one of our wine tours this time around? The weather is turning so it should be plenty of warm to get to the sea. Perhaps you all can ride the bikes down and utilize my bike-n ride pick-up service to get back? I have at least two new driving tours to tell you about when you get here with lots of photos and tidbits to share on how to get around more easily and economically along with some great restaurant recommendations. See you in a few weeks, donna

"Clean, comfortable and friendly hosts."
This villa was wonderful. Everything you need is provided for you. It was clean, spacious and comfortable. The host and her family were very friendly and willing to do anything to make your trip a totally awesome experience.
Thank you for staying with us! We had a great time showing you a little bit of Puglia. Wish you could have stayed longer but we hope you enjoyed the personal driver/tour guide services. It is great seeing folks come back to visit after the San Vito Air Station closer. Please share us with your friends and don't forget to mention the 20% military affiliated discount and 5% referral and return stay discounts we offer. We really enjoyed our trip together to Alberobello and Matera and sharing a bit of the Italian nightlife with you and your wife in San Vito. I hope you enjoyed the traditional Pugliese dinner with us and all the great Salento food and wine! What a trip, finding the place you used to live 20+ years ago--Gotta love the southern Pugliese hospitality and openness to strangers! We look forward to hosting you again someday...
