The Marche / Abruzzo / Abruzzo region
We are in the Green Region of Europe. The environment in this part is a tenaciously protected resource: more than a third of the territory is protected; you will hardly find anything similar in Europe. In the four natural parks and the reserved areas you can admire beautiful views, dotted with lakes, hills and rocky massifs that are rough and harmonious at the same time. A trip to Abruzzo gives you strong sensations in all corners of the region: the fascinating landscape of the provinces, the ancient cities and the enchanting expression of a nature that offers a thrilling encounter with wildlife.
Likewise stimulating is the Abruzzi region that has known how to combine past time and environmental resources, where it is possible to canoe down the rivers, have enthralling excursions on foot, go down the slopes on a mountain bike and glide over boundless green stretches.
The San Vito Chietino / Marina di San Vito area
The coast of Abruzzi strikes you for its scenery and the pleasant climate. In the north there are spacious strands of soft, golden sand with dense and fresh pinewoods behind you. In the south the coast changes radically. It rises and pebble beaches appear, surrounded by beautiful nature.Every now and then a small cove winks at those who love dining and wild nature.
Swaying on the waves of the Adriatic Sea with the snow-covered peakes in the background is a unique experience.

A great place to stay with fantastic outdoor areas - shady courtyard, covered eating area with views of the coast and, terrace with sun loungers and gardens.
Indoors was just as good. The interior is decorated with a distinct style with quality furniture and walls covered in artwork and objets trouvé. Wandering around in the evening I was constantly drawn to posters and prints that I hadn't previously noticed - probably the most interesting walls of anywhere I have stayed!
The local beach, two minutes walk away, was sufficiently fine shingle to be comfortable to lie on and the swimming was great. A footpath runs behind the beach to San Vito Marina for a more formal sandy beach. Alternatively, there is a good sandy beach in a nature reserve at Vasto, a little way down the coast.
Booking was simple with good communication with the owner and the arrangement for meeting as we left the motorway worked well, even though we were several hours late because of a delayed flight.
We spent 5 nights here at the end of July followed by 5 nights at Casa La Rocca near Salmona to experience both coast and mountains in Abruzzo. We plan to return to both.

This place was the ideal place to spend a few days relaxing: reading our books on the terrace; drinking coffee; wandering into the village for a swim and an ice-cream (the yoghurt flavour is amazing).
A lot of thought has gone into this villa - it's really well equipped without being over the top. It maintains an Italian, rustic style.
The icing on the cake was the little details from the owner, who gave us wine and water the night we arrived and enough food for a couple of breakfasts and lunch. It's the little touches like this that help one to relax.
Thanks for a lovely few days.
