About this location
The Sardinia region
Over the last twenty years S. Teodoro has become one of the most popular Sardinian resorts.
Located only 25km from Olbia and within easy reach of the airport and the port, this old town is a must-see if you visit Sardinia.
Surrounded by Mediterranean scrub, San Teodoro and its coast is characterised by an impressive 18 beaches and countless bays. LA CINTA is the most famous beach of San Teodoro. The beach is well-equipped and, therefore, particularly suitable for children and young people. San Teodoro's lagoon has rare fauna, pink flamingos, herons and wild ducks.

"Get away from it all for a restful break"
At first, Smeralda Villa seems a little out of the way but we soon realised that the reality is you have complete privacy to enjoy a perfect holiday.
The villa is spacious and spotless. The swimming pool is immaculate. The view from the balcony is breath taking. You sit there at night watching the twinkling lights, faraway in the village of Padru. The village sits at the foot of a mountain range which become silhouettes as darkness falls. The only noise comes from the sheep who have bells tied around their necks and the bells ring softly as the sheep move through the mountain range.
The best and nearest airport is Olbia (Costa Smeralda). It's only 25 minutes away so you don't have far to travel on arrival. Padru is the nearest village and if you want to find a great beach and somewhere with some bars, restaurants and tourist shops then San Teodoro is 10 minutes from the villa by car. The villa provides a great retreat for those looking for the perfect 'chill' factor.
I even saw a red kite and an eagle from the balcony one day.
Alan, who hands over the keys, is extremely helpful and nothing is a problem. He will also cook, for an additional cost, which we arranged on a couple of occasions. He uses fresh, local ingredients and impressed us with his delicious chicken lasagne. He also was able to source some wonderful red wine!
You definitely need a car if you're considering Sardinia for a holiday. It allows you to sample many of the sandy, nearby beaches with azure blue sea. The Sardinians are very friendly and enjoy showing their island off to it's full potential.
I am seriously considering returning to this fabulous location and the villa in the future.
Thank you for your comments. I am so glad your family enjoyed your stay. As other guests have commented the villa is very private and secluded. The wildlife is truly amazing, I suppose the older we get the more we appreciate the wonders of nature. As you have said it is only 20 minutes from the airport but seems a world away from the the hustle and bustle of the tourist towns. Thank you for your comments on my cooking, I am definitely not Gordon Ramsay but I do my best.

"Amazing villa, amazing holiday"
We recently stayed in Sardinia for a long weekend. Deciding to make the most of our relaxation time, we stayed at Smerelda Villa.Tucked away in the hills between Padru and San Teodoro, we never would … More
It was a pleasure to have you and Kim here and thank you for your kind comments. I would agree that a sat nav is handy as we do supply the coordinates to reach the villa, supermarkets etc. Also with the new roadworks still to be finished it throws out the maps we supply as the alternative temporary road is not mapped. Thank you again for your comments.

"Simply great time :)"
I had a great time at Smeralda Villa.
We spent there a week in June with a group of friends. The villa is surrounded by cork oaks and you have lots of privacy. Nearest beaches are approximately 12km away (10 min by car) and every day you can actually go to a different place. It's well worth it. Villa owners provided some guide books with info about local attractions which comes very useful if you are into sightseeing. If you decide to stay in the villa for the day you will enjoy it by the pool.
The villa itself met our needs. Most of the rooms are large and airy, each with built-in wardrobes and en-suite bathrooms. You will also appreciate large kitchen and big lounge with a terrace overlooking the surrounding area. Stunning view!
We had some issues with running hot water, but you can expect that when most of people are deciding to have shower at the same time. Also, cold(er) showers are good for your skin ;)
I am definitely missing the view from the lounge and dining area. There is no obstruction to it so enjoy Sardinia mountains whatever the weather.
Big thanks to Alan, the owner, who proved to be very helpful. Thanks for arranging local meat, vine and cheese delivery. It was special, and delicious! You can't say no to it :)
Highly recommended the villa for everyone who would like to experience Sardinia at its best.
Thank you for your kind words, we are so pleased that your party enjoyed your stay. You could not have picked a more perfect week weather wise for your stay.Yes running five showers at the same time will have an effect on the pressure and water temp, but glad you managed your way around it. Again thank you for staying at Smeralda Villa.

""What a Gem""

"our holiday was fantastic"
Some of our thoughts and comments that we wanted to share with you:
1. The villa is a little remote in terms of the location from the beach but we also realized that its distance from the San Teodoro center gives us the quietness and lack of tourist noise. Its about 5 kms from the beach. If you have a car- you will enjoy the distance.
2. We did like the nearby grape vineyards, Pizzeria and the view from the balcony. The pizzeria is family owned - Alejandro and his wife and daughter (you will see local sardinian county style hospitality)
3. The location is an easy find. Very helpful coordinates.
4. There are several agriturismo places to eat within 2,5 kms from the villa. They are inexpensive, authentic food and the hosts are family. They treat you with a lot of warmth
5. The beaches were fantastic – blue>blue>blue. We visited quite a few of them.
Cleanliness of the villa:
1. Spotless ! & white.
2. I did have some thoughts on the white colored walls. Since its for 8-10 people, I assume that there would be more people with children who will show interest in the property. The side walls in the kitchen, walk way upstairs, cushions in the dining table and the sofa are all white. I was wondering if this may become dirty too soon as n when you get larger groups with children. When I was there - I had nothing to complain.
3. Bedrooms and bathrooms are huge and well ventilated. So many bedrooms and bathrooms.
4. The huge open kitchen was my favorite room. The exhaust in the kitchen works very well.
The extra nice things:
1. The washing machine and iron table in the entrance was such a relief for us. We spotted it as soon as we entered the house. Thanks !
2. The clothes line outside and the little extra hanger was very useful on the outside.
3. The high pressure water hose to clean or wash our feet or even rinse the beach clothes before entering the villa was handy.
4. I am a Chris Rhea fan and was very happy to see and listen to the Best of Chris Rhea. There is a huge movie and music collection in the house.
5. The important notice (Read Me) instructions and all the nice books about Sardinia were extremely helpful. So many books on where to go>what to see>route planners.
6. The huge vase on the dining table was lovely.
7. Fans were available in almost every room and the house is well ventilated when you open all doors and windows. A/C or No A/C will always be a debate but we didn't feel the heat !
I would definitely recommend this place to people and friends. I don't know if I would stay here again as a couple because I would love to come back to Sardinia and have another different experience. But if we have a family reunion as a group of 6-10 people- this would be our only choice.
There is this guy who looks like danny devito - he will receive you in the airport / show you around. He is such a lovely guy. If he welcomes you - your trip starts with royal hospitality.
Thank you for taking the time to share your kind comments it is very much appreciated.
