Home description
Villa Louise provides beautiful hill top accommodation with breathtaking views of Lake Como.
The property which has a part stone clad façade and is built into the mountain side rises majestically from the road via a private drive. There is car parking available both on the lower road level and up at the villa for several cars.
The villa consists of five bedrooms (1 double with en suite. 1 twin with en suite, 2 further doubles and 1 single and 2 further shared bathrooms + a shower /laundry room in the basement. A magnificent open plan sitting/dining room with vaulted ceiling has picture windows to make the most of the wonderful views that Villa Louise is fortunate enough to enjoy. It has a large luxurious leather corner sofa positioned to again make the most of the views. The bright red fully equipped kitchen complete with breakfast table has large windows overlooking the mountains. Tiled floors and granite/marble staircases complete the picture.
The bedrooms all have cherry wood beds and double wardrobes apart from the master bedroom which has a brass bed – all double rooms have king-size beds.
The villa has a balcony on three sides where you will find seating to enjoy your afternoon tea whilst basking in the sun and enjoying the vista. A large covered stone terrace and garden sit on the 4th side with lake and mountain views. This is where you will spend much of your time – breakfast – lunch and dinner al fresco – it will be an effort to drag yourself away to the BBQ a few short steps away.
The villa is in the locality of Marena, 310 m above sea level in the commune of San Siro (formerly known as Santa Maria Rezzonico). It is conveniently situated - a 10 minute drive from the Menaggio/Cadenabbia 18 hole International golf course; the second oldest Golf Club in Italy www.menaggio.it and also ski resorts in the Alps, both in Italy and Switzerland, are a one to two hour drive. A fifteen minute leisurely walk down to the lake will bring you to Rezzonico with its medieval castle and Pizzeria – the walk back always seems to take longer – I wonder why!
The beautiful town of Menaggio which is located on the western shore of Lake Como is about 10 minutes away with its ferries, www.navigazionelaghi.it cruisers, shops banks and restaurants. You can relax in the piazza whilst you decide on which flavour ice cream to have! The tourist information centre is just off the piazza and the English speaking lady who runs it can provide a wealth of information.
As the sun goes down and darkness descends on Villa Louise you will find it hard to decipher the star lit sky from the twinkling lights on the opposite mountain side – a truly memorable place to visit – a visit you will remember for a long time.

The Lombardy / Lake Como Area
Lake Como offers hidden treasures just waiting for the visitor to discover them: charming corners forgotten by time, lakeside villages where nothing seems to have changed for centuries. It is steeped in history with an immense collection of churches, architectural masterpieces and works of art covering the centuries. The lake is situated in a basin surrounded by wooded mountains, and offers an extremely varied landscape, with its' shores featuring a succession of pastures, and woods as well as harsh and impressive rock formations. All this alongside elegant, lakeside villas with sub-tropical gardens, which provide a haven of peace and tranquillity and chic resorts such as Bellagio, Menaggio and Como itself.
Lake Como is a lake of glacial origin in Lombardy, Italy, which is some 47 km (30 miles) long north to south and is Europe's deepest lake at almost 1,350 feet.
The lake is known for its peculiar shape - a Y turned upside down which is due to its three branches, Colico, the northern branch, Lecco, the south east branch and Como, the south west branch.
The third largest lake in Italy, Lake Como is just half an hour from noisy, bustling Milan, a few minutes from the Swiss border and is an ideal venue for family holidays. It commands a striking position in a mountain landscape and its shores are dotted with picturesque villages, luxurious villas and parks.
San Siro area
San Siro (formally Santa Maria Rezzonico) - situated in one of the best spots on Lake Como, where the scenery of the lake and the mountains is something really special - a place where you can relax and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the lake. There is a secluded lane in Rezzonico which stands out as the quintessential Lago di Como path. Entirely residential except for the Ristorante Lauro located about a third of the way down, the stone work of the walls and the patina of the cobbles exhibited the kind of character that only time can create and the love of people who live there can maintain.
Santa Maria di Rezzonico (as it was formally known) is a small town dominated by the remains of the Casrtello della Torre, a little more than 200 meters above the waters edge, of which remain only the foundations of the wall and a 14th century crenellated Tower.
San Siro is a pretty, historic hamlet where you can still feel the atmosphere of the ancient past and view the beautiful castle. San Siro’s town centre (1.5 km away) is where you can find more shops, food stores and restaurants as well as public beaches on the lake. On shore of the lake there are water sports facilities (boat rental, sailing, surfing), and there are a number of scenic walks on your doorstep.
Menaggio is only about a 5 min. drive away - a thriving town from where you can explore all the beautiful villages around the lake from the main ferry terminal.
