About the home
Great family holiday home with adventures for all, in the river or mountains. Great walks. Morning in the mountains, afternoon a splash in the sea or in the river. The large shady pergola overlooking the river for a good rest. Big sunny terrace overlooking the river.
The area is wild .17 km from the sea. 25 kms from San Remo. 80 km from Nice. We spend time there with our children and grand children. All of us enjoy the mill. Small children in the shallow pools, teenagers jumping from the rocks or fishing. The more serious people will prepare the pizzas in our own authentic pizza oven.
Two separate houses rented together .

Big France turbo wood burner. Kids area with plenty of toys and games.Yamaha piano. The big house and little house are on the same property 10 metres between them. They are only rented together . Little house has a big open space with a sofa bed, two single beds and a mezzanine with 2 single beds. An open plan kitchenette with a second washing machine.. Shower and toilet. Both houses facing south overlooking the river and mountain.

Our care taker works in a Pizzaria and is willing to show you how to make pizzas; For a modest sum she can make them for you or prepare typical Italian dishes. if you want a meal prepared for when you arrive, All you need to do is to warm it up.

Situated near beautiful villages in the heart of the Ligurian mountains and only 17 kilometres from the coast, there are many things to do, see and taste in the area.
Beautiful mild climate. Swimming from March to November.

The San Remo / Agaggio area
The good thing about this region is that it has remained authentic, The tourists have not yet found this area. It is incredibly beautiful with many activities. We love hiking in the mountains over the old roman bridges or discovering the river, taking the rapids in the inflatable boat.Beautiful mountain villages. Plenty of guide books and maps available at the mill.
San Remo's famous market and old town.
The area is known for its olive oil. Little restaurants and pizzerias. Famous Italian ice creams and thick hot chocolate.
If you want to wander further, Monaco, Hanburry gardens or Genova and its beautiful palaces.
Outdoor activities:
Swimming in the river Just step out of the house, walk down the stairs and swim!
If you fancy a change, you can go to Molini di Triora, where there is a big river pool and a nice picnic spot (with shade and a playground for children)
A new 25km sea-side promenade/cycling path for bikes, roller-skates and pedestrians runs from Ospedaletti to San Lorenzo passing through San Remo. You can hire bikes and roller skates for the whole family for just a few Euro. In the next few years the intention is to extend the path to 70km in length.

Special for kids
One thing you'll notice when you get to Italy, is that children are loved. Even the smallest village will have a fantastic playground, restaurants will generally have high chairs and sometimes even a basket of toys, and no-one will frown upon you if your children get a bit active. Quite the opposite...

An old deserted town that was taken over by artists. A wonderful place to stroll around with plenty of great galleries to visit.
Le Cinque Terre
If you have time, take a couple of days to explore the Cinque Terre. One of the most stunning places in Europe. Very easy to access by public transport from Arma di Taggia.

Our family group included pensioners, teenagers, younger children and their parents. This house was loved by them all. There is plenty of space, lovely terraces to sunbathe and a vine covered terrace under which to dine. The biggest asset is the river. It is like having your own private paddling and swimming area. The gentle sound of the river is so soothing. The whole area is tranquil and relaxing. The house is well equipped for self catering and we catered for 11 of us easily. The village has an excellent shop that seemed to be always open and the local village dances were a great success. We felt at the end of the holiday we had experienced the real Italy One aspect however is that this is not for the infirm as there are many steps and steep slopes to be negotiated and there are a lot of hairpin bends! |
