The La Palma region
La Palma is effectively a nature reserve, unspoilt by the mass tourism which has blighted some of the other canary islands. There are contrasts of volcanic lunar landscapes, subtropical rain forests, large conifer woodlands, rugged coastal cliff scenery and cultivated areas with an abundance of picturesque towns and villages many of them with colonial connections. Villa Miranda is ideally located as a base from which you can explore all of these areas.
Your villa is set in the valley of Las Brenas near the small town of San Pedro. This is one of the prettiest areas of the island with its lush vegetation and panoramic views over the bay of Santa Cruz and the mountains to the rear (including the highest mountain of the island).
San Pedro, La Palma
Your villa is accessed down a quiet country lane in the hamlet of Miranda. This ensures you will have complete privacy and tranquility. You will be living among local people and be able to enjoy the relaxed pace of the island with its frequent fiestas and celebrations. Each of the local villages has its own programme of festivals and events.
Walking is one of the main attractions of the island and walking routes are well marked and signposted. A number of local walks pass close to the villa.
San Pedro is a short drive away (or a 20 minute walk) with its restaurants, bars, shops and cafes.
The capital Santa Cruz with its colonial buildings, pedestranised cobble streets and maritime parade is only a 20 minute drive away. So too is the beach resort of Los Cancajos with restaurants, cafes, bars and shops.
A pleasant 45 minute drive through mountain scenery and tunnels will take you to explore the other side of the island.

"Better than anticipated"
Vila Miranda is a large, stylish, comfortable, well-equipped 'plantation house' with a pool, set in a beautiful garden overlooking Santa Cruz. Situated in a quiet lane it's conveniently located for the local supermarket, and for roads leading to Fuencaliente; up to the Refugio del Pilar, or into the caldera and on to the west coast. Pilar, the housekeeper, was welcoming and helpful. The house provided the ideal spot for 7 adults, two small children and two babies to spend the week, so I hope we'll be back.

"A paradise experience in La Palma"
Just come back from holiday in La Palma. The whole family: 3 young kids and two adults.
We flew from Gatwick London. When arrived at the la palma airport we were greeted by representatives of Alma Tourist the car rental company; they took us to the villa and it is only 20 minutes from the airport! Which was handy as first time on the island!
The villa is located in a quiet residential area. The grounds and the garden of the villa are impressive with many tropical trees; we were picking avocado for our salads;-)!!!
Villa has two levels and absolutely beautifully maintained: comfy furniture all around the house; beautiful art on the walls, mostly painted by the owner of the house, which gives the villa authenticity and originality. The beds are made nicely and smell of freshness.
Bathrooms and showers are are all very clean.
TV, DVD player, loads of DVDs to choose from, radio of la Palma in the kitchen... Mmm fabulous!.
Beautiful terrace inside and outside of the house with comfy chairs and coffee tables and with many tropical flowers around: this was a paradise.
I loved huge kitchen which was very well stocked with cutlery, necessary equipment to cook home made food (which is very thoughtful of the owners as I like cooking!
The swimming pool is heated which gave us an opportunity to enjoy it even when the sun was out. The views fro swimming pool takes your breath away.
Temperature on the island was about 24 degrees the whole week, a couple of cloudy days but warm.
We will return next year!

"Needs some TLC, wrong side of the island for February?"
The villa is brilliantly furnished and the DVD and book libraries are amazing. However, it is showing its age and has quite a bit of damp. There are lots of places where the paint is flaking off and t… More
We visit our villa regularly. Redecoration is scheduled to take place shortly. We always advise our guests to contact us or our housekeeper if they have problems so that we can remedy them as soon as possible. We cannot guarantee sunshine and the island (east and west) is subject to winter weather, as are all the canary islands.
