The Lake Lugano apartment is within the Residenza Valsolda located in the small, quaint and very old Italian town of San Mamete, just five minutes from the Swiss border. The apartment is situated directly on Lake Lugano in a fairy tale like setting. The luxury accommodation has magnificent views and includes a private boat dock. A one-bedroom apartment is offered with furnished kitchens and linens. There are restaurants, shops, a post-office and a bank all within easy walking distance. The fashionable city of Lugano, Switzerland is only twelve minutes away by car. Residence Valsolda is renowned locally for having the best views on Lake Lugano, if not of all the Italian Lakes.

The Lombardy / Lake Como Area region

Northern Italy in the province of Lombardy borders Switzerland and is very near to both the flat land towards Milan and the high Alps towards Switzerland. Lake Como is one of the most popular lakes in the region with rough mountains for hiking in summer and skiing in winter. Charming old villages to explore, historical monuments to marvel and beautiful gardens on the lake side to enjoy.

The San Mamete area

San Mamete is an ancient and untouched village (12th century) and it is very appreciated thanks to its beauty and its art. Still today you can see ancient towers and castles in all the area. Be sure to visit the Parish Church of Purificazione di Maria (16th century) that preserves important frescoes by Carloni and, walled outside, a small marble high-relief portraying the Lion of St. Mark, symbol of the alliance of the Medeghino, lord of Valsolda, with the Republic of Venice; the Sanctuary of Madonna della Caravina, dates from the 16th and the 17th centuries. It is famous for the miracolous fresco depicting Our Lady which is placed over the main altar. And the Antonio Fogazzaro's house, placed by the lake at Oria (Albogasio).

The town has three small bars, a backery, wine cellar, hair-dresser and small shop.
