The apartment is just one of six in a small block on a quiet village road only 100 metres from the immediate beach and surrounded by other small coves for swimming, picnics and snorkelling.
Pozo del Esparto, with a backdrop of mountains, is a small seaside village with 3 restaurants, a bar on the beach and a daily bread delivery van. It is only a 3 to 4 minute drive or a pleasant beach walk to the small town of St Juan de los Terreros which has supermarkets, restaurants, tapas bars, disco, internet cafes, Sunday market and boardwalk.
It is situated on the north coast of Almeria, the only remaining natural coastline of the Spanish mediterranean. The region, being relatively unknown, is the undiscovered Costa and one of the driest and sunniest areas in Europe with 320 days of sun. It has the best natural beaches with hidden coves and interesting cliffs. Resorts in this area cater more for families, golfers, walkers, cyclists, relaxation seekers and messing around on the sea.
The nearby town of Aguilas (10 minutes), the fishing port of Garrucha (15 minutes), and holiday resort of Mojacar (20 minutes) offer the visitor a diverse range of interests and activities. The famous Desert Springs Golf course (20 minutes) is open to non-members and there are two other golf courses just 5 minutes away. There are mini-cruises from Garrucha to Cabo de Gata, and also local boat and fishing trips.
Approximately 45 minutes drive along the stunning coastal is the beautiful wild nature reserve of Cabo de Gata, a paradise for nature lovers and naturists with windswept deserted beaches, fabulous walks and rock formations, and delightful villages.
Head inland to the Sierra Nevadas for great skiing and the famous city of Granada (2 hours drive) with its beautiful Al Hambra palaces. You can also visit Mini Hollywood in the Tabernas desert region with its daily shows of gunfights and riding.

The Costa de Almeria region
Warmest part of Spain, average temperature ranges from 33.0c in august to 17.7c in January. Mojacar is the centre of Moorish history, a small hillside village.
Desert Springs, one of the few desert golf courses in Europe is in the area, also 2 other courses.
Inland at Tabernas is where the spaghetti westerns were made an interesting place for the children to see. The coastline has many interesting geological sites with sandstone and granite rock formations.
San Juan de los Terreros / Pozo del Esparto area
Aguillas, a local Spanish town, 8 kms away, has an open market on Saturdays, and in February one of the largest Fiestas in Spain is held in the streets. It has a lovely harbour, marina and fishing port, also attractive squares where one can sit, eat, drink and watch the world go by.
Garrucha is another fine port with a Friday market held in the streets, a harbour with many fish restaurants, which it is famous for, and of course Mojacar, the Moorish village with its quaint narrow streets, shops and restaurants, perched up on a hill.
San Juan the nearest town is 3 minuted drive from Pozo Del Esparto, or a 25 minute walk along the beaches, and has shops, restaurants, supermarkets and bars. All outdoor activities are possible from Pozo, including sea fishing, sailing, diving in the crystal clear blue waters, and the walking is wonderful for all abilities, from gentle strolls over flower strewn mountains, to more serious hiking.

Fly to Almeria cheap flights via Easyjet from Gatwick, Ryanair from Stansted.
Car hire from Caracola or Europcar from airport.
Coach service to nearby town from Almeria coach station and airport bus to Almeria coach and rail stations.

Further details indoors: Very comfortably furnished, bright apartment, all linen and beach towels provided, games, DVDs, cards, puzzles for those quiet evening in. Interior wooden paddle stairs to roof terrace (not shared).
Large roof terrace with lovely views and fully equipped with kitchen, gas ring barbecue sink water and electricity.
Further details outdoors: Just a short walk to the nearest beach, totally safe little village, which at present has small shop, 2 restaurants, and chiringito (beach bar only in summer).
A "get away from the hustle and bustle place", but within easy reach of the town with all facilities, and great for those who enjoy outdoor activities and nature.
Conditions
Dogs or cats allowed, refundable breakages deposit required (to be paid by cheque which will be returned to your home address after inventory has been taken), 35 euros for cleaning required on arrival.
All monies to be deposited in bank 4 weeks before departure.
The stairs and balcony could be hazardous for very small children.
