The Costa Calida/Murcia region
The seaside town of Santiago de la Ribera, which is sited on the north shore of the Mar Menor, with its fine bars, cafés and glorious seafood restaurants is a delight to visit.
Like most of the Spanish towns near to beaches, Santiago de la Ribera has its share of first class restaurants and is ideally situated to ensure everything is fresh. Everthing is close to hand in Santiago including banks, shops, small supermarkets, etc so a car is not necessary if you feel you do not wish to rent one.
There is a local street market every Wednesday which provides fresh produce and high quality leather goods and clothes.
San Javier Mar Menor area
The sandy beach stretches for 4 miles following the promenade around the non tidal shallow waters of the Mar Menor and is the largest salt water lagoon in Europe. The waters of this "lagoon" have an average depth of 3.5 metres with a maximum of 6.5 metres. It is a magnificent natural swimming pool with temperatures which are maintained by the sun of approximately 30°C in the Summer months. This makes it an ideal place for all types of water sports.
Further afield, the regional capitol of Murcia is about 30 minutes drive and has a host of fine buildings and shops. A 15 minute drive South is the old port city of Cartagena which has a good array of shops and old buildings even a Roman Amphitheatre. There are several protected areas within half an hours drive, Calblanque and Sierra de Carrascoy regional parks and the San Pedro Salinas bird sanctuary to name but three.
The San Javier airport is only a 5 minute car journey away from Santiago de la Ribera and about 50 minutes from Alicante airport.

Flights for this holiday can be found on the internet Cheap flights are available from Easyjet.co.uk flying from Bristol to Murcia and Gatwick,Luton, Liverpool, Newcastle, Bristol to Alicante also Bmibaby fly from Cardiff to Murcia there are other air lines. The San Javier airport is only a 5/10 minute car journey away from Santiago de la Ribera and about 45 minutes from Alicante airport via the AP7 Motorway. The bathroom has a bath with shower, toilet, bidet and wash hand basin and hairdryer. Fully fitted modern kitchen has everything you need for your stay. The combined lounge/diner has a TV and DVD with a selection of adult and children's videos, the patio doors leading out onto balcony. The apartment also includes air conditioning.
We can provide a cot, bedding, high chair & buggy for a small charge on request. Security safe. A mid stay linen change can be provided on request at an extra cost if required.
