Home description
Il Castellano is a large country house, perfectly restored with respect to its original character. Situated in the San Ginesio district, it lies within half an hour of both the Adriatic coast and the Sibillini mountain range and National Park. It stands at roughly 450m above sea level in a very peaceful location just beyond a Mediterranean wood, and surrounded by a large lawn. The house sleeps 10 with 4 double rooms and 2 singles, with three bathrooms each with shower. There is a large swimming pool set amongst an olive grove with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside.

The Marche / Abruzzo / Marche region
Half an hour by car in one direction takes you to the sun kissed beaches of the Adriatic, and in the other to the foothills of the Sibillini Mountains, which offer both simple excursions and more serious rock-climbing. All of the towns and villages nearby are rich in castles, fortresses, churches and abbeys, and are witness to their medieval origin. (Castello delle Rancie; Castello di Caldarola; Abbazia di Fiastra).
San Ginesio area
15 mins by car takes you to the Roman ruins of Urbs Salvia. The city of Macerata, 20km away, hosts opera and classical music festivals annually in its famous Sferistereo. Slightly further a field lie artistic cities of real value such as Urbino, City of Renaissance, Recanati, Loreto, Assisi, Perugia, Roma etc... To appreciate the local culture and traditions, there are numerous festivals throughout the year, which take place in the surrounding villages. This is also a great way of trying local products and traditional cuisine.
