Each terrace is furnished with high quality garden furniture including a hammock and swing chair. You are spoilt for choice where to sit and relax whilst enjoying a glass of the local wine admiring the views across to San Gimignano. The main house has 6 well presented bedrooms, the 7th bedroom is found within a converted self contained barn in the grounds.

The Tuscany region
Located in a wonderfully quiet secluded area with fantastic views, Villa Sornano is ideally located for day excursions to San Gimignano 7 miles, Siena 19 miles, Florence 29 miles and Pisa 51 miles away. All of these cities have fascinating museums and local places of interest to visit as well as various festivals which you can join in with. The local tourist office will be able to give you the upto date times and information for all the events taking place during your stay.
San Gimignano area
There are various small supermarkets in Poggibonsi. There is also a Coop hypermarket which offers a huge range at low prices usual hours 09.00 to 21.00 Closed Sunday. In the summer on Sunday mornings the Pam supermarket at Poggibonsi Nord is open. Market - There is a market here on Tuesday mornings.
There are many chemists. There will also be one open at night and on Sundays. To know which one is open phone the number listed outside all chemists. On this notice there is also which Sunday the chemist is open. In the centre of Poggibonsi near the level crossing there is a chemist which is open from 8.30 - 12.30 and 16 - 20.
There are several banks in Poggibonsi where there are cash dispensers that accept Credit Cards.
Hospital - There is a large hospital with an emergency room on the outskirts of the town. Doctor - For a doctor or ambulance call 118
The main tourist office in Poggibonsi is in the station square and it is there that you can buy rail/bus tickets amongst other things. The other one at 23, Via Borgaccio is run by a charming Italian who speaks excellent French. He is closed on Sundays and other office hours are 14.00 - 20.00. Buses for Florence and Siena both go from in front of the station, although parking is a problem.
Poggibonsi is a large town that is full of business activity. The old town centre is the nicest part with several Italian family run shops which are full of character and are wonderful to browse in.
How to get there
Florence is the nearest airport 29 miles away with Pisa being 51 miles away. Both Ryanair and Easyjet have a selection of flights.

Further details indoors: The villa has a stunning entrance hall with double height ceiling and stairs leading up to a galleried landing area. From the hallway, doors lead off to all parts of the villa. The well equipped kitchen has an oven with separate gas hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and dining table and chairs. There is also a door to the large outside terrace. On the opposite side of the entrance hall is the dining room with antique table and chairs. Next door is the very spacious lounge with exposed brickwork walls and the traditional tiled and beamed ceiling. There is a comfortable 'L' shaped sofa and feature open fireplace. The ground floor bedroom is located off of the lounge and has a double bed and an en suite bathroom with shower. All the ground floor rooms have doors opening onto the large outside terrace area. Upstairs there is a long corridor from which all the bedrooms are accessed. The master bedroom has a double bed with en suite bathroom with shower and two reclaimed holy water fonts used as his and her basins. Next door is a family bathroom with bath, shower W.C. and basin. Continuing down the hallway are a further four bedrooms two single rooms a twin room and a double room. The end two bedrooms (a double and a single) share and en suite bathroom with shower, which would be ideal for a small family group. The final bedroom is located in the converted barn in the grounds of the villa. this has an open plan living area with a separate bathroom with shower. A mezzanine level has a bedroom with double bed and wardrobe.
Further details outdoors: Outside the landscaped garden has a series of terraced levels with a large bespoke 16 x 8 metre swimming pool with separate hydro spa section. Internal steps lead down into the refreshing water with ladder access and a diving board in the deep end. The paved surround is furnished with tables, chairs, sun loungers and umbrellas. The large outside terrace overlooks the pool area and is a great spot for outdoor entertaining and dining. Furnished with ceramic topped dining table and chairs with a large umbrella for shade and a brick built barbeque for cooking those "al fresco" meals. All around the villa there are stunning views of the Tuscan countryside to the towers of San Gimignano in the distance. This is an ideal villa for large groups or extended families catering for different age ranges.
