This lovely property is a newly renovated farm building ideally located between the famous San Gimignano and Volterra, originally the Etruscan capital.
It is a detached villa divided into 2 independent apartments, with lovely gardens all around. It offers privacy for 2 groups yet with the benefit of being next door to get together for dining and activities. It is in an idyllic position , slightly elevated so that there are 360 degree views of the surrounding countryside.
.Each has a covered beautifully furnished terrace at the back of the property where one can sit in the shade or watch the sunset go down over the pool. At the front south facing terrace are large dining tables which can join up to sit 12 people, enjoy the sun at breakfast or in the evening, looking at the lights of Volterra in the distance.
It offers privacy where one can slip away to the pool or read in a quiet corner, and yet one can be sociable in a large group sharing a delighful garden and environment.
There are sunbeds for the pool or garden and 2 barbeques for guests use.
The views are breathtaking, the villa delightful and beautifully furnished.
Collinella is a wonderful place to come back to and relax after a day sightseeing, and sip a glass of the local Vernacchio wine on the terrace, and enjoy the company of ones friends and family.
Podera Collinella is situated 3km along a 'white ' road, lined with olive groves and wonderful rolling countryside.It is situated at the end of this private , unmade road so there is no through traffic, thus offering peace and privacy. The road can be quite bumpy and prone to potholes in bad weather!
It is perfectly situated to visit the main towns of Tuscany - San Gimignano and Volterra less than 20 mins away; beautiful medieval walled towns steeped in history. Siena is 45 mins away, famous for Il Palio horse race and the lovely Piazza . Pisa and Lucca is one hour, fascinating Florence one hour,The famous Chianti area is less than an houraway, offering wine tasting, cookery courses and lunch at vineyards.There are numerous traditional restaurants in the area and charming small towns and villages to visit. The nearest restaurant is at Castagno, 4km from the gate to the private road, which has a lovely pizza restaurant and a small shop.
Nearest banks at San Gimignano and Volterra, also major supermarkets here. Weekly markets at San Gimignano on thursday and Volterra on saturday, antique markets in Florence.

The Tuscany region

Tuscany can rightly claim to have just about everything - italy's greatest collection of art, classical architecture, beautiful countryside and some of the best food and wines around. The climate is excellent with hot summers and very pleasant Spring and Autumn if your pursuits are walking and cycling.
Collinella is perfectly placed for sightseeing the major attractions of the Tuscany region. San Gimignano , Volterra, Siena and Florence are all easily accessible as are the many picturesque villages dotted about this lovely landscape.
Tuscany is famous for its food and wine, and there are many local restaurants serving excellent food to suit all pockets. The local San Gimignano wine, Vernacchio, can be tasted in the various vineyards and local produce is brought in to the markets , fresh and delicious.
There is more to Tuscany than the famous towns , wherever you travel you will come across villages with charming piazzas, historic churches, cafes and enticing food shops st amongst fields of sunflowers, olives and vineyards.

San Gimignano / Gambassi Terme area

San Gimignano is 13 km from Collinella , a wonderful medeival town, its 13 towers evident on the skyline. Once there were 72 towers, symbols of wealth and power of the medieval families of the 12th and 13C. Today is retains its magic and history amidst the array of restaurants and shops selling good quality leather good made in the town. Sunday is always a lively day in San Gimignano and often there are festivals and carnivals in the narrow cobbled streets and the central piazza. Market day is Thursday in San Gimignano and saturday in Volterra, the nearby former Etruscan capital. Volterra , less commercialised than its neighbour is an interesting lively walled town, set on a rocky plateau with amazing views over the surrounding countryside; this being 14km away.
There is golf in Castelfalfi ,and tennis in Castelfiorentino both about 25 mins away. There are wallking trails from Collinella and mountan bikes can be hired locally.
Organised wine tours are plentiful , or you can just happen upon an estate and they are usually very happy to take you around. Some estates serve excellent lunches after the tour , when one can sample the local wines.
Siena is approx 40 mins drive, a magnificent city steeped in history; the Piazza del Campo being the site of the famous Il Palio race held in August. Throughout the city a wealth of art is to be found in the churches and small museums - or one can just enjoy people watching at Piazza del Campo, lined with numerous restaurants and cafes.
Florence is less than an hour away , stop en route for a lovely country lunch or visit the many farms selling local wine and olive oil. Here the cradle of renaissance and home of Machiavelli, Michelangelo and Medici, steeped in history and well preserved architecture. Don't miss the Ponte Vecchio and the Uffizi gallery, the list is endless.

How to get there

Fly to Pisa from many uk cities - Bournemouth , Coventry and Stansted with Ryanair and Thomsonfly; Bristol, Gatwick with easyjet; . Jet 2 from Manchester,Leeds ,Newcastle and Edinburgh.
Collinella is one easy hour drive form Pisa airport.
Fly to Florence from Heathrow or Gatwick, just under the hour drive.
Car ferry to Livorno- one hour drive.
All major car hire companies operate out of Pisa airport.
Podera Collinella is a group of converted farm buildings and so is located in a beautiful rural area. It is at the end of a 3km private unmade road which has the odd pothole and can be bumpy !

The villa is divided into 2 self contained apartments, with a front south facing terrace with dining furniture to seat 12. Each half of the villa is similarly furnished.
The floors are rustic terracotta tiles throughout and the furniture is all new and of very good quality.
Downstairs bedroom king size bed and shower room; upstairs king size bed and twin bedroom and bathroom in each- total sleeps 12. There are beautiful far reaching views from all the bedrooms.
Downstairs each has a sitting room , fully furnished kitchen with dishwasher, and a delighful covered terrace at the back of the property. This has lovely comfortable outdoor furniture, where one can watch the sunset go down over the pool, or keep in the shade at midday sun.
The gardens are private and on all sides of the villa, the garden is maturing with fig and peach trees, olive and plum with many mediterranean bushes. .

Pool open from May to October, 7 m by 14 m and 1m deep.
Pool is cleaned daily and there is a sitting area by the pool.
The development is gated and down a private road so that there is no through traffic to spoil the tranquillity.
The villa is on a slight elevation so the views are uninterrupted and extensive.
There are 11 apartments altogether in 2 other buildings away from the villa.
There is a housekeeper for the villa ( living in the area) who can help with any problems or information you may require.

20% deposit required with the balance due 8 weeks before the holiday.
Central heating is not included and is chargeable at 100 euros per week.
£100 damages deposit refundable on return, less any damages.
Cancellation policy- if I can re-fill the booking I will only charge £50 administration fee, or if you re-book the same season.

Collinella 12/14 above prices are for the whole villa for one week , inclusive of all utilities and towels and linen, except in Winter when gas is metered and charged seperately.

Long week-ends by negotiation off peak , but during July and August rental is for minimum of one week and changeover days are strictly Saturdays.
£100 damages deposit .
Payment by cheque or bank transfer .Can also be paid in euros.
20% deposit please with balance payable 8 weeks prior to the holiday.

Thank you so much - we had a brilliant holiday , 12 of us getting together for a special family birthday. We really found there was something for everyone here , some did wine tours and some went shopping !
The evenings were magical , cooking over the barbeque with that amazing view over the hills.

What a perfect location ! We had a wonderful time at Collinella, lovely villa, comfortable beds and we appreciated the quality of the linen and furnishings.
