Casale San Frediano is in a typical tuscan landscape characterised by hills with olive trees and mediterrenean bush. It is on the limits of the three provinces: Florence, Pisa and Siena. Gambassi Terme is only few kilometers far. At disposition of the guests is an equipped pool ( maximum depth 1,00 m, open from 01/05 to 30/09, or more if wheater permit), outside space, barbeque, parking and also a lot of paths for naturalistic walkings by foot or mountain-bike, dipped in the forest where it is possible to meet the classic fauna totally free (peasants, hares, roes, wild boars, hawks, squirrels); washing machine and iron are at the guest’s disposal. A “white”, unpaved, road,winds past cultivated and thickly wooded fields leading to the house, and which is bumpy and there may be potholes in bad weather.
IL FOCOLARE apartment is ideal for three people. Apartment situated at the first floor with a common stair and indipendent entrance, about 41 mq wide. Consist of sitting room with kitchenette with 4 fire plates, electric hoven and fridge with freezer big bedroom with Tv sat and fireplace, and a single bed-sofa. Bathroom with shower cabin. Outside is a area furnished with table, chairs and barbeque so to eat outside.

PISA, was once a major maritime power to rival Genoa and Venice; today it is fame for the Leading Tower, and for one of Italy's most famous squares, Campo dei Miracoli.
SIENA, the Palio city, with its disctricts and its quares the churches and medieval building, such as the Palazzo Pubblico on Il Campo (the Piazza del Campo) the main square which is the setting for the Palio. The Duomo is one of Italy's greatest gothic churches.
LUCCA, is a Tuscan gem hidden behind imposing Renaissace walls, which enclose a compact centre of atmospheric medieval streets and towers, Romanesque churches and palazzo. that are about 50 km far, to the nearest Volterra and San Gimignano (20 km), Valdelsa and the numerous minor centres you can discover.
San Gimignano / Gambassi Terme area
In the surrounding there are many charming medieval villages such as:
Montaione, in the historical centre Palazzo Pretorio, the panoramic view, the Roman cistern, S. Regolo Church. In the centre there is a gorgeous balcony where admiring the famous Tuscan hills!.
S. Vivaldo cloister. Dozen of little churches called "Italian Gerusalem" which represent a reproduction of Gerusalem during Cristo's life.
Certaldo. It's Giovanni Boccaccio native town. In the oldtown, placed on a higher level than the new, You can visit the poet's home with the library where there are all the editions and all the translations of the "Decameron". In "Certaldo Alto" You anc visit also the Palazzo Pretorio with Benozzo's frescos. In July You can't miss "Mercantia" a theatre festival.
San Gimignano is an old medieval village characterized by themagic of its stately towers. The towers, there were once 72, now about 13, were the simbols of the power and wealth of the medievals families during the 12th and 13th centuries. You must visit: the historical centre, the "Collegiata" or Duomo, Palazzo del Popolo, Piazza Duomo, and Piazza della Cisterna.
Volterra is located on the Valdelsa hills, and is a marvellous Etruscan and medieval village., characterized by the alabaster artisan manufacture. Here You can visit the etruscan archaeology museum "Guarnacci", the Battistero, the Duomo, the Palazzo dei Priori.
Vinci the Leonardo's native village. Here You can visit the "leonardiano museum", in the beautiful castle of Conti Guidi, which raprsente one of the wider and original collections of engines and models of the inventive, technologist and engineer Leonardo; and the house of the maestro in Anchiano and the "Leonardiana Library".( half a day about 35/40km.)
Montelupo Fiorentino, Capital of ceramics and Terracotta.
Montespertoli. the city of the wine. The week beetwen last Sunday of May and first of June there is a great wine Party. Here You can visit che Church oa S. Andrea, the "pieve di S. Piero in Mercato" and the museum of Sacred Art; the Poppiano Castle (Conti Guicciardini), the Montegufoni Caste and the Sonnino Castle.
Colle Val d'Elsa, where Arnolfo di Cambio was born. The Village Colle Alta is a typical medieval village. Here You can admire the ruins of 12th -13th century fortifications. Very interesting to visit is Palazzo Campana, Piazza del Duomo, Palazzo Pretorio with the Museo Archeologico Bandinelli and works of Arnolfo di Cambio. The Museo Archeologico collects archeological finds of a necropolis of Monteriggioni.
How to get there
Fly to Pisa - Casale San Frediano is approx 70 min easy drive away. Budget flights from most UK airports , including Bournemouth and Bristol, Manchester and Newcastle as well as London. Ryanair , Thomsonfly and Jet 2, amongst others fly regularly to Pisa. Fly to Florence from Gatwick or Heathrow- Casale San Frediano is approx 60 mins drive. Car ferry to Livorno approx one hour. Train to Poggibonsi or Castelfiorentino. All major car hire companies operate from Pisa and Florence. Casale San Frediano is about 2km along a private unmade road off the SP4 (Volterrana) road. There are some bumps and minor holes but no need for 4x4 - a Fiesta, Panda or similar is fine.
