The Tuscany region

The Chianti area, between Florence and Siena, is one of the most beautiful countrysides in Italy and a famous wine production area. Florence is the capital of Tuscany.

Other important cities are Siena, Pisa, Arezzo, Pistoia, Prato, Lucca, Livorno, Grosseto, Massa Carrara. Siena is one of the most popular destinations for travellers to Tuscany. Siena is home to the famous horse race, the Palio, held in Siena's unusual central square.

San Gimignano

San Gimignano rises on a hill (334m high) dominating the Elsa Valley with its towers. The town advanced in wealth and developed greatly during the Middle Ages thanks to the "Via Francigena" the trading and pilgrim's route that crossed it.

Such success lead to the flourishing of works of art to embellish and décor the churches and monasteries. The construction of the towers dates back to the 11th and 13th centuries.

"If only we could live here!"

We spent the 1st 2 weeks of June here with 7 of us in total, 6 adults 1 child. The property is fantastic, it has all the facilities you want with huge rooms. We didn't realise that 2 of the rooms were adjoining which was a massive plus for our friends who brought their 7 yr old daughter. The pool area is out of this world, it's an infinity pool that overlooks their own vineyards and has a great al fresco dining area to sit, eat and watch the sunsets. We saw wild boar while sitting there, a fox and the frogs and toads in their pond were in fulll song. The property is next to Alessandro and his family, who were there if you needed
them but otherwise you didn't see them. One night I needed a doctor and Alessandro arranged it all for us, he was great. He arranged taxis into San Gimingano, really easy and cost 35 euros. It is in a perfect location, 5 min drive into San gim and 15 min drive to poggibonsi and the main train line to sienna
and Florence. We also did a private transfer to Rome for 700 euros. Coop in San gim is very good, if you want larger supermarkets they are in poggibonsi. The Geographica on the way to Poggibonsi does fill you own wine bottles for
just over a euro a litre and it sells Alessandro's own wine which is fantastic. I would recommend this property for large groups, you can't go wrong!

"A beautiful property in a beautiful location"

Booked this property for a week with family and friends to celebrate my 40th birthday.
On arrival was met by Alessandro who completed all the paperwork quickly and provided us with maps of San Gimignano and gave us directions to supermarket.
The property is in the beautiful Tuscan countryside surrounded by vineyards but is close enough to San Gimignano. However, you cannot walk to San Gimignano from the property due to the lie of the land and parking in the town was a nightmare. As we were a large group we created our own taxi service!!!
During our stay he also arranged taxis and on my birthday delivered a bouquet of flowers - a really nice and thoughtful touch. Nothing was too much trouble also providing string to hang up birthday cards and candles!!!
The property was clean and well equipped with sufficient crockery etc - we cooked at the property most evenings eating on the terrace, a great place to gather from first thing in the morning to last thing at night.
Even though the property is between his and his parents properties it was still very private and despite spending a lot of time at the property we never saw anyone else all week unless we needed something.
There is plenty of seating and sun beds around the property - eating lunch down by the infinity pool taking in the beautiful views another highlight.
For my birthday a chef came to the property to cook us dinner. I subsequently found out this was Alessandro's aunt. The meal was beautiful and the suggested menu was adapted as I don't like coffee so in addition to traditional tiramisu she also made a fruit one. There was more than enough food and at 25 EURO per person was excellent value. If I didn't want to cook I would consider having her come every night, as you provide your own drink so it is much cheaper than going to a restaurant.
I would thoroughly recommend this property; it is good value and has everything you need.
