The California region
Stay in one of the country's most beautiful neighborhoods, Saint Francis Wood, which was designed by renowned family of landscape architects, the Olmsteds (Central Park in NY, UC Berkeley and Stanford, Yosemite), to take advantage of the ocean views and sloping topography on the western side of San Francisco.
This is gracious old San Francisco, filled with houses by many prominent architects of the City Beautiful movement in the early part of the 20th century--lots of trees, no overhead power lines or billboards, generous setbacks.
Street parking is abundant (very rare in the city), and it is only a block walk to the metro-- which will take you straight to downtown and the waterfront, or out to the ocean. Walking distance to the charming neighborhood of West Portal with lots of restaurants and shops. Easy transit to SF State, Golden Gate Park
