A separate apartment with 2 single beds, lounge, kitchen and wetroom, with shower, wc and hand basin gives extra accommodation if needed. The whole of the accommodation is ideal for 2 families who want to holiday together, but also want to retain a little privacy. Outside there is a large patio, shaded by a pergola, splash pool (in the summer months), table, chairs, parasols and BBQ, all overlooking a wonderful valley, with views to the mountains. The Costa Tropical/Granada region
This area is almost tropical during the summer months, with a very dry heat reaching into the high 40'sC. Cortijo Cayanas is situated close to the lake at San Clemente, which is surrounded by beaches and is very unspoilt, and tranquil. Hire our canoes for 25 euros for half a day, and enjoy the peaceful turquoise waters of this stunning lake. Riding can be done at Fuente Vera, a small village a short distance away for a cost of 25 euros an hour, or enjoy an evening riede out for 2 hours, and enjoy a BBQ and drinks after for only 50 euros per person. After a hard day in the saddle, relax with a massage which can be undertaken at the cortijo by a masseur previously worked at Champney's health club in the UK. You need never be bored here, and if thats not enough, the area is great for walking, climbing and mountain biking too.
San Clemente area
The town of Huescar has a market every Thursday and is a must. Castril is approximately 16km away and is situated on the edge of the National Park. It has a visitors centre and swimming pool open June to September. Leisure activities include horse riding, quad biking, paragliding, walking, painting, bird-watching, fishing and biking. The historic Village of Galera is 20 minutes by car. See the many cave dwellings refurbished to make wonderful homes. There is a museum, open air swimming pool and Hotel with indoor swimming pool.

Further details indoors: The cortijo has been tastefully renovated keeping many original features, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. All rooms are spacious and well furnished with rugs and comfortable soft furnishings. The walls are thick, keeping out the summer heat, but when the log burner is lit on cool evenings, the house is warm and cosy. All windows look over stunning scenery. If you should wish to bring small children, a travel cot and highchair can be provided on request. The bread man visits Wednesday and Friday. The gas man alternate Wednesdays.
Further details outdoors: There is a large patio areas accessible directly from the house, which overlooks the valley. This patio has a pergola, which shades the table and chairs in the summer months. There are several sun chairs tables and parasols for lazy summer days. New for 2008 is a splash pool, ideal for children. The side patio area has wonderful views over the valley to the mountains. There is a barbecue for guests use. Ample car parking space.

Changeover days are flexible. Smoking is permitted, but outdoors only please. Long term lets only available October to March.
