The varied attractions of Gran Canaria such as Holiday World Theme Park, Aqua Sur Water Park, Palmitos Park, Perla Canaria, Go Karting, Varied boat Trips, Scuba Diving, Windsurfing, Horse Riding, Fishing, Camel rides, Helicopter and Plane trips as well as a variety of golf clubs - are all a few minutes away. The Gran Canaria region
Gran Canaria is the most southerly of the Canary Islands with a warm and sunny, but rarely excessively hot climate all year round . As well as having some 17 km of beaches closeby, the beauty of the largest area of sand dunes in Europe is world renowned as is the lively nightlife which caters for all tastes and truly runs through the night until the dawn breaks !
The island itself has a breathtaking array of holiday attractions as well as a wild and wonderful mountanous interior and a lively cultural calendar in the city of Las Palmas (a 40 minute drive) which includes an annual music festival which draws many of the world's most famous orchestras, and an opera festival to match any in the world in the city's recently re-furbished nineteenth century Perez Galdos Opera House.
San Agustin area
San Agustin is a quiet residential countrified area, which is rather more upmarket than the main resort Playa del Ingles, although it is only a few minutes walk or drive away. It features its own two beaches including water sports etc.shopping ,restaurants and the Casino and Cabaret.
There is a beachfront promenade which is a delightful walk all along the coast from San Agustin to Playa del Ingles to the beaches at Maspalomas.
How to get there
There are regular scheduled flights as well as charter flights at very reasonable prices from most parts of the UK from Easijet , Monarch, Thomson Fly, XL, My Travel,Thomas Cook, Globespan and First Choice. The majority of direct flights are on Saturdays or Mondays. but there are also daily scheduled Iberia flights via Madrid or Barcelona which are often very competitively priced.
