Home description
The location of this property is exceptional, situated among beautiful mature gardens landscaped with cacti, shady tropical trees and exotic plants. Hoopoes regularly settle on the lawns in the morning and parakeets visit the date palms surrounding the bungalow. The complex enjoys impressive Atlantic views and access to several small sheltered beaches can be gained via a private gate. The beach of San Agustin, a 20 minute walk away along the coastal path, is low-key, unspoiled and popular with the locals. Being close to the sea, of course, means there is generally a pleasant breeze. The vibrant resort of Playa del Ingles is a 10 minute drive or bus ride away. There is a superb pool which is rarely busy. At night it is unusual to hear anything other than the sea crashing on the rocks below the gardens.Local shops and good restaurants are within walking distance. Local fishermen sell their night's catch on the beach at Playa del Aquila. Our guests celebrate the tranquility , character and seclusion of this place and return to us. This is a family home, not a commercial unit,. and is furnished and equipped accordingly. The well-furnished accommodation has a living room, good quality sofa bed, TV, CD and DVD; separate dining room with Atlantic views; two double bedrooms and a very large terrace with lounge furniture. The climate allows guests to dine and relax outside all year round should they wish. The bright, modern kitchen is fully equipped. A washing machine and safe are available. The bathroom has a shower.

The Gran Canaria region
Gran Canaria is situated about 120 miles off the west coast of Africa and its position guarantees all year temperatures that are refreshingly cooler than mainland Spain in the summer and invitingly pleasant in the winter with a mean of 25 degrees. There is very little rainfall in the south of the island but Gran Canaria as a whole is often described as a 'mini continent' with the wetter northern slopes covered in lush vegetation. The interior of the island has a dramatic extinct volcanic landscape, offering a range of walking opportunities. The mountain villages are worth seeking out. Las Palmas is a 35 minute drive to the north. This is a fashionable city with some distinguished architecture. It is from here that Columbus set sail for the New World in 1492.
San Agustin / Playa del Aguila area
Playa del Aguila is a quiet residential resort with popular San Augustin and lively Playa Del Ingles a short drive away. The famous dunes of Maspalomas are easily accessible by car, bus or taxi. and the windsurfing mecca of Pozo Izquierdo is a short drive away. The markets of San Fernando offer fresh local produce and a weekly flea market. The hypermarket Carrefour and a range of designer shops can be found in the nearby town of Vecindario. Within easy reach there are restaurants catering for every gastronomic taste and the nightlife in Playa del Ingles, for those who seek it, is celebrated.
How to get there
A twenty minute taxi or car ride from the airport. There is also an hourly bus service from the airport. Taxis are cheap and plentiful. Car hire is reasonable.

Further details outdoors: The grounds of the complex were laid out roughly 30 years ago and the whole has matured into a very pleasant and well-maintained environment with many interesting sub-tropical plants. The pool is truly impressive. As it is unheated, however, it can be cool in the winter months. The location of the property is ideal for walking, hiking and accessing the authentic Gran Canaria. Several beautiful mountain villages are close at hand and there are breathtaking canyons, mountain passes and calderas to investigate. Guides and maps are available in the house. Pozo Izquierda hosts an internationally wind-surfing centre and is a short drive along the coast. Las Palmas, (40 minutes by bus from Playa del Aquila) the capital of the island, has some fine architecture, excellent shops and was the point from which Cristopher Columbus embarked upon several epic voyages.
Further details
The property is ideal for those wishing to escape the bright lights and the bustle of the busy resorts. One of its outstanding qualities, valued by ourselves, our neighbours and our guests, is its tranquility and, although part of a complex, it offers the visitor relative privacy and seclusion. This could prove restricting for children. Several of the properties are permanently occupied and it is quite an international neighbourhood.
But for the sound of the sea and the rustle of the breeze in the palms there is little that could disturb guests. There is no traffic noise and the airport, although convenient for visitors, is too far away to be a nuisance. The steps in the complex would not suit those with walking difficulties.

Guestbook for Playa del Aguila (San Agustin)
"We had a marvellous time. It really was peaceful. We've found a location and accommodation that really suited us. We definitely want to return." Mr & Mrs N, Orpington
"We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and the villa is truly delightful. It catered for all our needs and the peaceful surrounding were just what we needed." LN & RW, Whetherby
"I really cannot suggest any way in which the bungalow could be improved - the information you gave us in the booklet was a great help, and we found the bungalow itself really comfortable and a great base for a superb ten days, not to mention a really relaxing location with amazing views for a barbecue on the patio over a bottle of wine." HB & HV, London
