The West Country region
St Mellion is in an enviable position in Cornwall. Close to the main route over the Tamar bridge from Devon, Plymouth is within easy reach as are most of the great sites of Cornwall. Eden project is 40 minutes and even Land's end can be reached in 90 minutes.
Locally there are great farm shops (as well as a Waitrose - unheard of in the West Country). If you can get away from St Mellion's fabulous facilities there is a stunning Elizabethan house (Cotehele) on your doortep with others within 30 minutes. The Tamar river is the west country's main river and has boat trips, canoeing and great sailing. There are some great cycle paths & just a bit further afield is the superb Camel trail from Padstow to Bodmin.
