The Costa Dorada/Tarragona region
The Costa Dorada,has long stretches of beautiful golden sands, and stunning clear turquoise Mediterranean Sea. Costa Dorada has a long stretch of coast, interspersed with sandy beaches and pretty coves. The resorts have a traditional seaside atmosphere and are excellent for families, especially since the recent addition of the Universal Mediterranean theme park resort. There is also an aquatic park at La Pineda.
Port Aventura Theme and Water Park takes approximately 7 km to the gate entrance. It is Europe's second largest adventure theme park and is owned by Universal Studio. The big ride is the Dragon Khan, with its 70mph first drop and eight inversions. The indoor / outdoor Costa Caribe, the Caribbean-themed water park, also has a beach area and is an ideal venue to cool off.
Aquopolis Water Park is nearby. It has one of the most modern dolphinariums in Europe. There is also Aqualand Safari and Water Park within easy reach.
Costa Dorada is also within easy reach of the cultural capital city of BArcelona, which is a great place to explore. Tourist attractions include Gaudi's Cathedral, the Picasso Museum, and Las Ramblas.
Head to Salou which is a modern resort , or ambrils, which is a quieter little fishing village with loads of character.
The Salou / Cambrils area
Cambrils has a very long beautiful beach, stretching out to 9 kilometres. You can also take advantage of the seafront promenade and see the stunning views of Cambrils coastline in the horizon.
Cambrils is a haven for young families and youth holidays, as it really is the archetypal beach holiday destination. T
he huge, sandy beaches are of course a huge factor in why people flock to accommodation in Cambrils, but the huge theme park, Port Aventura - Salou, seems to be the largest attraction for many, many miles, and the 8-loop Dragon Khan Rollercoaster can be seen from many of the top floor apartments in Salou itself.
There are a couple of big water parks the "Costa Caribe" and "Aquopolis" just 7 km away from the house perfect to enjoy with the families.
The streets of Cambrils and the area surrounding the town are filled with interesting cultural features and beautiful natural scenery. The region is well worth seeing with an eye towards learning more about the history of our town or simply to admire the magnificent views that the local countryside offers.
