The Lombardy region
Lake Garda is one of the most exciting places in Italy to Visit - with a wonderful climate from early spring to late autumn and amazing variations in scenery - lush cirtus groves, olive trees, vinyards, ancient Italian villages and sophisticated resorts, majestic mountains and sparkling clear waters, Lake Garda offers something to suit every one!
Families can experience the marvels of Gardaland, Italy’s biggest theme park or the wonders of CanevaWorld with it’s Medieval Knights or Aqcua Paradise; Couples can wander the pretty villages dotted all over the area or through Romeo & Juliette’s Verona; What about wine and olive oil tasting? Sports enthusiasts can take advantage of the world-famous windsurf areas . . . Or if you prefer, just take a dip in the warm, clear waters of the lake and dry off on the beach!
And if you want something a little more special. . . experience the magical atmosphere as the night sky is filled with fireworks...every week in the summer!
Salò is one of the eight villages of the Riviera dei Limoni, in the natural reserve on the Bresian shore of Lake Garda.
Salò has always represented the gateway to the Riviera along the western bank, the most important town within the Park and the lively and sophisticated capital of what the Venetians called the "Magnifica Patria". Its predominant role in the economic and administrative life of the area is today reconfirmed.
"A delightful, unspoilt area on the western Riviera enjoying a particularly mild climate"
A settlement has existed on the site of Salò since Roman times and from subsequent developments there is still much to be seen. The 15th century cathedral is well worth a visit as is the Archaeological Museum and the Clock Tower Salò was a favourite in the elegant years of the latter part of the 19th century when the aristocracy discovered the spectacular beauty of the natural scenery of this area.
Salò is still without doubt one of the most beautiful resorts on the lake and today the wide lakeside promenade is the main attraction with a definite buzz around its many restaurants, pizzerias and shops. In this forgotten corner of Lake Garda the atmosphere is refreshingly uncommercialised with a delightful Italian flavour. There are designer boutiques, characteristic shops selling local delicacies and cafés in which to sit, enjoy a drink and soak up the ambience.
Visitors enjoy watching the many boats in the harbour, for the bay is well protected from the northern winds and thus a favourite with fishermen, yachtsmen and windsurfers. Salò's Saturday market is allegedly the best in the whole area and there are many musical events during the season with concerts ranging from jazz to classical.

"Lovely, well kept, perfectly situated, secure apartment"
The apartment was small but perfect for 2 people, secure with good access and even a lift for those who would need it (or even just to send your shopping up to your apartment without dragging it up the stairs), powerful shower (cubicle small), well fitted kitchen, comfortable sofa, lovely balcony with views to the lake, few seconds walk between building oposite and you are on the lake, fab. A couple of downsides, the bed is big but very hard, woke everyday with aching back and hips, also during our stay there was building work going on directly opposite which was noisy at times and an average of 6 workmen there through the day, although they themselves were not noisy at all, we had no warning of this and since our holiday have made several attempts to contact the owner who initially said he wasnt aware of the works and would look into it and get back to us, we havnt heard back which is very dissappointing, it did impact on our holiday quite a lot, but without the building work going on we would definately recommend this apartment.
