Both houses are full of character, retaining their French rustic charm and many original features whilst providing guests with all the modern conveniences they may desire. Located in one of France's most scenic locations, Les Chauvins is a gorgeous home away from home, The Farmhouse provides accommodation for 10 guests and The Maison D'Amis for 6 . The houses are very comfortable and well equipped, offering all the privacy and tranquillity one could hope for as well as stunning views of the Charente countryside. They offer a huge play area with space for badminton, cricket, football etc. As well as swings and a sandpit for the younger guests. There are plenty of games, including table tennis and pool in the games room and lots of instruments to play.. a piano, guitars and recorders to name a few... in the music area! There are pygmy goats to feed and pet, as well as chickens and guinea pigs! Each house has its own barbeque and The Farmhouse has a gas plancha for outdoor cooking. The Farmhouse (320m²) and The Maison D'Amis (100m²) are situated at the end of a country lane, in the summer the fields beyond are planted with stunning sunflowers and golden wheat. The houses overlook a pretty courtyard to the east and to the west is the huge walled swimming-pool with its powerful jetstream. Beyond there are uninterrupted views of the valley with its stream, woods and wildlife. The Farmhouse can be rented either on its own or together with The Maison D'Amis. The layout and proportions of the properties make them a perfect place for families to relax and have fun together, or to celebrate special occasions such as birthdays and wedding anniversaries. The Poitou-Charentes region

Les Chauvins is on the Charente Dordogne border in south west France. There are so many fun activities for families to share in the Charente that the question is never what to do, but where to start!

Explore the rivers in a flat-bottomed boat or a canoe or try walking, riding and mountain-biking round the rolling countryside.

Aubeterre sur Dronne is a must with its underground church and river beach. So is Brantome, with its cafes and bars and bustling Friday market. Chalais and Riberac too!

Classroom history lessons come to life at the imposing forts and chateaus. Climb to the top of a castle, dress up in medieval costume, or enjoy one of the many mediaeval village fetes around the region.

And if all that's not enough, surprise the kids with a trip to an adventure park, a scenic excursion on a llama, or further afield, a self-propelled ride on a vélo-rails or rail bike along a disused railway track!

The lush, green landscape of Charentes is one of the best places to enjoy a nature holiday in France. With no mountains or rugged terrain to contend with, the countryside is easily accessible to everyone, offering an unrivalled mix rolling hills, vineyards and valleys, not to mention the glorious beaches of the French Atlantic Coast. Get close to nature birdwatching, or looking out for the coypus, wild boar, deer and bats. The gently undulating countryside is an open invitation to walkers and cyclists with a network of well- marked paths, whilst fishermen can relax beside a river.

"Fabulous house, gardens and pool ,really is a home from home with everything you could ask for."

I have just returned from two very relaxing weeks spent with family and friend ranging from 14-83. The hosts Madeleine and Marcus were really accomodating and have really made the properties a home from home which meant there was always plenty to do. The gardens and pool area are beautiful with so many places to sit and relax and the games room proved a hit with the men. The surrounding area also has lots to offer such as markets, canoeing and cognac tasting which I would really recommend.
