House | 6 bedrooms | sleeps 12
Coombe Farm is a luxury barn conversion in a peaceful rural setting with stunning countryside views to enjoy. Internally, Coombe Farm is an especially spacious property that has been finished to a high standard throughout with high vaulted ceilings, teak flooring, Persian carpets and an oak staircase. There is a large open plan kitchen, living and dining area. The property also benefits from a 12 seater cinema and an indoor heated swimming pool with bi-folding doors leading onto the courtyard. Coombe Farm is also a baby friendly property as it provides a cot, high chair and stair gate for much younger guests.
Externally, Coombe Farm has a generous outdoor space with a wraparound enclosed garden set within its own 28 acres of arable farmland. There is also a patio area furnished with a barbeque, table and chairs. The farm is home to a small flock of friendly Grey Faced Dartmoor sheep and a few young Devon Ruby Red and Belted Galloway cows. Behind the barns, up the hillside is a newly planted 150 tree cider orchard; all traditional West Country varieties and a new 6400 vine vineyard.
Coombe Farm is located 1.5 miles from the town of Modbury which has a good range of independent shops, pubs and restaurants. Coombe Farm is also four miles from the southern edge of the rugged and picturesque Dartmoor National Park with beautiful wooded valleys, tumbling rivers and famous granite tors. Dartmoor is an ideal place for walking, riding or fishing. The city of Plymouth is a 30 minute drive. The city is home to National Marine Aquarium, Plymouth Life Centre and Plymouth Hoe, which offer amazing walks and stunning views. The nearest beaches to Coombe Farm are Bigbury-on-Sea and the surfing beach of Bantham, a 20 minute drive. The lovely towns of Salcombe, Kingsbridge and Dartmouth are also all within easy driving distance.
The kitchen, living room, dining room, bedroom two and cinema are located on the first floor but can be accessed from ground level as the property has been built across a slope making it accessible for people with limited mobility.

The West Country region
The warm climate and award-winning beaches enjoyed by South Devon have kept it a fashionable holiday resort for many generations. Torquay, Paignton and Brixham make up Torbay, one of the most popular areas for holidays in South Devon, and the area also includes the coastal towns of Dawlish, Teignmouth and Starcross. South Devon holiday cottages position their guests in some of the country's prettiest locations for a break with a continental feel. South Devon hosts dozens of festivals and regattas throughout the whole year. One of the world's oldest shipwrecks was found off South Devon's coast. Pete Goss built his Team Phillips catamaran in Totnes.
From Totnes and Ivybridge to Dartmouth and Salcombe, The South Hams sits between the moors and the sea providing you with the best of South Devon's rolling countryside and 60 miles of dramatic and ever-changing coastline.
There are six historic towns that collectively form The South Hams each with their own individual charm and unique characteristics; Dartmouth, Salcombe, Ivybridge, Totnes, Kingsbridge and Modbury. Meander along the pretty narrow streets and historic harbours and you will find a welcoming selection of gift shops, boutiques, galleries, restaurants and bars.
Head towards the coast and you will be greeted with an amazing selection of golden beaches and hidden coves. For the adventurous among us, water sports are available at many of the larger beaches while the smaller coves offer a peaceful retreat and are perfect for relaxing with a good book and a picnic.
