This pint-sized, but surprisingly spacious old cottage is in the village of Frogmore, a pretty Devon village and one which has managed to hang on to its pub, the excellent Globe Inn, its Post Office and the locally renowned Frogmore Bakery & General Stores.

It's a great location to explore the wonderful South Devon beaches and fantastic walks on the coast path and the Salcombe Estuary.

The spacious sitting room/dining room has oak floors, a sofa and arm chair and a wood burning stove. By the window is a pine dining table with chairs. You step up to a well-fitted modern galley kitchen with a ceramic hob. The kitchen also has a stainless steel sink washing machine/dryer, fridge and microwave.

Oak spiral stairs lead up to a good-sized double bedroom with oak wardrobes with a separate good-sized bathroom with a bath and a shower over the bath. Up to one extra person can be accommodated on a folding campbed downstairs.

You can enjoy views of Frogmore from the very sunny terraced seating area a few yards up from the house. The village is perfectly placed to reach Prawle Point, the most southerly point of Devon in just a few minutes. Many of Devon's best sandy beaches, such as Blackpool Sands and Slapton Sands are just a few minutes drive. Or drive to Portlemouth and get the ferry across to Salcombe or down the river to the popular South Sands Beach.

There is a private parking space for The Nest just outside the back door which is also the usual way into the cottage. Free wifi is available in The Globe pub next door. nb it's a country foodie pub so no need to worry about the noise!

The Devon region

Situated in the South West of England, Devon is a great area to visit known for its beautiful hilly countryside, including Dartmoor, stunning sandy beaches and characteristic narrow, high sided Devon lanes. It's a great place for all kinds of outdoor activities including walking, cycling, swimming, sailing, fishing, horse riding and golf. However it also has some amazing old houses and wonderful old pubs. It's also known for its fertile soil so expect local produce at many of the local shops and restaurants.

Salcombe

The village of Frogmore is situated on Frogmore Creek which leads into the Salcombe Estuary and has managed to hang on to a great pub, The Globe and an excellent village shop and post-office. The cottage is also perfectly placed to reach Prawle Point, the most southerly point of Devon in just a few minutes. Many of Devon's best sandy beaches, such as Blackpool Sands and Slapton Sands are just a few minutes drive. Or drive to Portlemouth and get the ferry across to Salcombe or down the river to the popular South Sands Beach.

Charming little property in a lovely location. Cottage did smell damp though and it didn't improve despite leaving windows open in warm weather. There is quite a lot of noise from a surprisingly … More

"Amazing weekend break"

The Nest was exactly what we were looking for; it was clean, comfortable and very cosy! The cottage looks tiny on the outside but feels much bigger on the inside plus it is decorated in a very tasteful way and is perfect for a traditional English staycation. The price we paid for a weekend in October half term was fantastic and the cottage definitely exceeded our expectations! We only stayed for 3 days but we wished that we could have stayed for the whole week. Although the cottage is in the quaint village of Frogmore, the road it faces is actually the main road through the village so there is quite alot of traffic passing the front door. However the cottage is pretty well sound proofed and we didnt really notice the traffic...we also were in the cottage whilst a huge storm hit the south coast and hardly noticed the gale force winds and torrential rain! There is a small village shop which has all the essentials, but make sure you check the opening times as they are stereo-typically 'village shop' opening times. Frogmore is fantastic to go for walks near the estuary and is a short drive to the coast but the best thing about the location is the pub only 10 metres from the front door!! Overall a fantastic stay in a lovely and peaceful cottage.

"Beautiful cottage, lovely area."

Perfect little cottage! Brought my partner here as a Christmas gift and it was wonderful, reasonable and very quiet. We were left a code for the key so didn't even need to see anyone all weekend. Surprisingly big rooms and the wood burning stove was a massive bonus.

We can't wait to come back.
