About the home

Keith & Jenny Makepeace launched last year their beautiful house West Soar to market and following the proularity of this have created 2 stunning new ecologically sensitive sea facing villas. Jenny has set the benchmark for quality of these beautifully appointed villas catering for families of many different requirements. With the ability of sleeping up to 6 guests at one or 12 when linked together, they offer true flexibility for independent guests.

As we have started with a clean sheet of paper for The Ocean Suites this will also deal with our wish to cater well for any disabled guest which has not been previously possible with the constraints of an older building. Therefore the Ocean Suites are fully accessible and of course both ground level.
We love design and we are increasingly aware of our responsibilities to ensure everything we do is sustainable and fitting to our very sensitive environment hence our wish for this project to really earn its green credentials for everyone’s long term benefit.

Soar Mill Cove's grounds extend to some 10 acres and this is surrounded by 2000 acres of National Trust countryside, so space is a luxury we all enjoy.
Each property has its own private patio and Barbecue area and West Soar has its own private fenced garden and hot tub with enormous sea facing patio.

Stunning green roofed luxury eco villas with uninterrupted sea views at Soar Mill Cove are now welcoming their first guests. Our first guests have enjoyed these large 2, 3 & 5 bedroomed homes that offer all of the hotel luxuries and more. For guests who want more space with your own sea fronting lounge, dining room, kitchen, wet rooms, and large bedrooms with big comfy Hypnos beds these are proving a real hit.

Where they score is in their USP's - you can stroll across the courtyard to Soar Mill Cove's Champagne Bar, comfy lounges, coffee shop and restaurant, yet still see the villas so feel free to take full advantage of wired baby listeners to give Mum and Dad a tad of freedom.

For dining chose between self catering, with groceries delivered to your door from your favourite supermarket or take your pick from our "chef prepared" deli dishes with a full in suite dining menu of prepared delights such as beef Wellington, Cracked Lobster and Hot Chocolate Fondants. Or enjoy a night of decadence with a delicious dinner prepared in the hotels 2 rosette restaurant or served "exclusively yours" by your own chef and waiters in suite for that special night of luxury.

The hotels facilities are only available when the hotel is open from Valentines until November and the lawn tennis is only open from Easter to the end of October.

Conditions

Refundable breakages deposit of £400 required, to be refunded within one week of your departure (subject to satisfactory property inspection).
20% of rental fee due upon booking and the balance 4 weeks prior to arrival.

Ocean Views @ Soar Mill Cove are situated in the South Hams area of South Devon. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty, with glorious beaches and coast and plenty of unspoilt countryside.

Nearby are the harbour towns of Dartmouth and Salcombe. Salcombe, the nearest town to Soar Mill Cove, is a popular resort for fishing, shopping, some great places to eat out as well as the lovely beaches.

Dartmouth, founded by the Normans, has long been used for trading, mainly due to it being a deepwater port. Now it is a popular sailing resort, as well as having a small fishing fleet.

Totnes is located further upstream on the River Dart, on the West bank. Historically Totnes was an inland port that exported cloth around the world. Some architecture from its heyday remains and there is still a small working port down on the river.

At Soar Mill Cove Hotel The Ocean Spa Treatment Suite offers a full range of beauty treatments and holistic services as well as massage and pampering. This is available exclusively to their hotel guests and guests of West Soar.

We have 4 golf courses within a half hour drive, 2 very near Thurlestone 18 hole and Bigbury 18 hole both with beautiful sea views and then Dartmouth with both 18 hole and 9 hole as well as Thurlestone Hotel 9 hole course.

A car is necessary to fully enjoy a holiday at Soar Mill Cove, however direct train services from Paddington to Totnes in under 3 hours and a Gatwick to Plymouth air service via Air South West as well as direct transatlantic services to Bristol with Continental and a reliable and local car hire provider mean that holiday makers from worldwide destinations are very welcome.
